SINGAPORE - 9 Feb 2004 -- iFoundry Systems, a provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, today announced the release of 5 core Bluetooth modules, designed for the Bluetooth OEM market. iFoundry Systems will be working with various manufacturing partners in Singapore to develop Bluetooth product solutions based on these modules, and market the resulting solutions through its worldwide distribution network. "Bluetooth Technology has reached a stage where interoperability issues and use models have been worked out and most importantly, there has been a significant rise in consumer acceptance and adoption of the technology. iFoundry Systems and our partners are committed to developing innovative Bluetooth solutions, and marketing these solutions worldwide. Our investment over the past 15 months has resulted in unique solutions that will help us rapidly develop Bluetooth products and applications" said Hari Ramachandran, Managing Director of

Because 802.11b/g and Bluetooth occupy the same 2.4-GHz ISM range of wireless communications spectrum, their RF signals can cause interference for each other unless a coexistence solution is deployed. TI's coexistence package provides intelligent and seamless coordination between TI's WLAN and Bluetooth technologies at the media access control (MAC) layer. With this level of time domain coordination, no RF isolation is needed between the 802.11 and Bluetooth antennas, simplifying designs and ensuring effective operations in small form factors. The firmware takes advantage of the general purpose coexistence interface BUS connection between TI's 802.11 MAC processors, the TNETW1100B and TNETW1130, and TI's advanced Bluetooth system on-a-chip, the BRF6100 or BRF6150. Software monitors WLAN and Bluetooth traffic patterns and, when both 802.11 and Bluetooth require bandwidth, it uses multiplexing techniques to allocate the bandwidth for simultaneous functions.   The XE1400 series offers generic solutions to enable your battery operated applications with the Bluetooth wireless communication standard available worldwide in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. The device is based on the XEMICS' Bluetooth Controller which independently executes a significant part of the protocol stack. By combining the XE1431 with a low power 2.4 GHz radio device such as the Skyworks' CX72303, an ultra low power Bluetooth wireless headset can be built consuming less than 20 mW @1.8V (HV3). The XE1431 is based on the XEMICS' Bluetooth Controller, which is combined with an embedded application microcontroller for the upper layer Bluetooth and application software and a CODEC. The Bluetooth Controller independently executes a significant part of the Bluetooth protocol stack from its own embedded ROM. With the embedded host being independent from the Bluetooth Controller and stack, the XEMICS' Embedded Host architecture allows the development

After a overview of the general Bluetooth protocol, a security framework is introduced for the description of the Bluetooth security layout. Bluetooth, a new technology named after the 10th century Danish king Harald Bluetooth, is a recently proposed standard for local wireless communication and is becoming hotter and hotter a topic. Since then, almost all of the biggest telecommunications companies have joined the Bluetooth SIG, e.g. 3Com, Lucent, Microsoft, Motorola, etc. Bluetooth specification is a free open standard and the latest version 1.1 was approved in February 2001 [1, 2]. Next, a security framework of the Bluetooth is introduced to figure out a layout of Bluetooth security. Then we examine the Bluetooth security in two parts according to the framework proposed, including the build-in link-level Bluetooth security schemes as the principle part, and the service-level Bluetooth security architecture as the practice part, respectively. Specifically, the weaknesses

This paper describes a multi-robot system designed to use Bluetooth wireless communication to solve the "Honeybee" task. Topics discussed include advantages and disadvantages of using Bluetooth in robotics, as well as a variety of behaviors required to solve the Honeybee task. This paper presents a multi-robot system designed to use short range Bluetooth communication to solve a simple search and navigation task. Although coordinating multiple robots using wireless communication protocols is relatively commonplace, the use of the recently developed Bluetooth protocol for these types of task is original. Thus, the main contribution of this paper is to outline the details of using Bluetooth communication for coordinated robotics. It is believed that this is the first time that Bluetooth has been used as the sole means of communication in a multi-robot system. One particular reason for the choice of the iPAQ as the controller was the ability to use Bluetooth wireless technology

The DSM-910BT is Bluetooth compliant to ensure seamless operation and performance. Transfer your digital music wirelessly at up to 723kbps for great audio quality and sound. Enable Bluetooth on your speakers with the DSM-100BT. Bluetooth wireless technology allows you to place your DSM-100BT at up to 30 meters away from your audio player or stereo. This gives you the flexibility to stream music from your audio player or stereo located in another room to your speakers. Once connected, both Bluetooth adapters will automatically initiate the pairing process, link with each other, and establish a Bluetooth connection. Simply replace your stereo headphones with the DSM-110BT to enable Bluetooth wireless connectivity on your audio player, whether it be your MP3 player, portable CD player, Walkman, CD boombox, or stereo. Your audio player can also play regular music CDs that can be streamed wirelessly to your Bluetooth enabled speakers. Package

Bluetooth is one of the most popular commodity radios for wireless devices. In this paper, we report our experience using Bluetooth for the sensor net-work regime. We describe our tiny Bluetooth stack that allows TinyOS applications to run on Bluetooth-based sen-sor nodes, we present a multihop network assembly proce-dure that leverages Bluetooth's device discovery protocol, and we discuss how Bluetooth favorably impacts in-network query processing. Our results show that despite obvious limitations the Bluetooth sensor nodes we studied exhibit interesting properties, such as a good energy per bit sent ratio. This reality check underlies the limitations and some promises of Bluetooth for the sensor network regime. In this paper, we focus on the use of Bluetooth modules as radio components for sensor nodes. Bluetooth modules are thus valid candidates, but how suited are they to the sensor network regime? Is it possi-ble to define a stripped down version of the Bluetooth

This addendum describes operation of the optional factory installed BluetoothT interface for Extech 3500T and 2500T printers. The Baud rate and the parity DIP switches need to be set for proper operation of the BluetoothT interface. The 3500T printer control card communicates with the BluetoothT base band interface at 19.2Kb/sec using odd parity. To select the BluetoothT interface set the 3500T DIP switches using the settings shown in Table1. The host Bluetooth hardware and software connects to a Bluetooth-enabled Extech printer using a serial port selection (COM1 - COM8). Three basic steps are required to print from any Pocket PC with Bluetooth device, using the PrinterCE control application. These steps are summarized below and illustrated using WinCE iPAQ BlueTooth enabled device. To begin setting up a new Bluetooth device, select the Bluetooth Manager from the Start Menu. Frontline will demonstrate this groundbreaking technology in booth 306 at the upcoming Bluetooth World Congress. A pre-release of this version of FTS for Bluetooth is available now, with a production release expected in late June. The air sniffing hardware consists of two finger-sized Bluetooth ComProbes® that plug into two USB ports and together weigh a total of 2 ounces (57 grams). This means the total price for a unit of FTS for Bluetooth capable of mixed piconet sniffing is $9,995 (US list). The FTS for Bluetooth solution to this sniffing challenge is to use one Bluetooth ComProbe to sniff V1.1 traffic and the other Bluetooth ComProbe to sniff V1.2 traffic. Frontline plans to use this same technique to support Bluetooth scatternets that consist of multiple piconets. The mixed piconet solution that is available now has a secondary application that will benefit users who aren't sniffing mixed piconets--the two Bluetooth ComProbes can be setup to provide redundant sniffing
