- The distinguisher is used to solve the MLD problem. - The notion of conditional correlation was formalized by Lee efficient attacks. However, the basic concept of conditional correlations remains the same: the linear correlation of the inputs conditioned on a given output pattern of a nonlinear function. Yi Lu, Willi Meier and Serge Vaudenay - p. 8/21 - We studied the correlation of the output of a function Q: What is the minimum n to spot above sequence from truly random sequences of equal length? - The conditional correlation is no smaller than the redundancy in the header of each frame for a practical ciphertext-only attack on Bluetooth encryption.

This processor carries out all bit-level processing after modulation/demodulation of the Bluetooth bitstream. The ARM7 core can execute all the functionally called for by the Bluetooth specification. The generator calculates the HEC field in the header of a transmitted Bluetooth packet while the HEC detects corrupted packet headers. Fast symbol timing acquisition is a prerequisite to successful decoding of the DAC and synchronization to the master device in a Bluetooth piconet. Coded voice data from the Bluetooth interface can be transferred to an external voice codec through a digital interface. Provided that bit 1 of TcCtrlStatus register is set the Bluetooth baseband processor has the ability to automatically generate the sequence of signals necessary to implement TX and RX.   The alternative to wired connectivity is the wireless short-range connectivity offered by Bluetooth technology at 2.4 GHz. One of the primary advantages of the Bluetooth system is ease of computer vendor product integration. To achieve the Bluetooth goal, tiny, inexpensive, short-range transceivers are integrated into devices either directly or through an adapter device such as a PC Card. risks from radiated RF energy of cellular handsets are mitigated with lower transmission power of the Bluetooth enabled ear set. As Bluetooth offers the ability to provide seamless voice and data connections to virtually all sorts of personal devices the human imagination is the only limit to application options. The Bluetooth technology allows users to think about what they are working on, rather than how to make their technology work. These requirements are take from the Bluetooth Core 1.0 specification and defined to provide compatibility between Bluetooth radios used in the system and

Chapter 1final

Bluetooth, a promising technology to provide mobile devices with at least 10-meter connections, is predicted to explode into every world market, as many market analysts foresee that the number of Bluetooth devices will reach between 600 million and 1 billion in 2004. As the cost of adding the Bluetooth radio to devices falls to approximately $5, Bluetooth is expected to be present even in low-end devices such as set-top boxes, low-end mobile phones, and Internet appliances. Bluetooth-to-Bluetooth interference increases due to frequency reuse in a shared spectrum. Assuming 900 million Bluetooth-enabled devices are in existence 5 years from now, the dominant cause of bluetooth interference will be from other Bluetooth devices. Users of the Bluetooth network can experience interference from many sources, however the focus of this investigation is co-channel interference in Bluetooth networks from peripheral bluetooth devices located in proximity of the ten-meter

Bluetooth-technology enables objects to communicate with each other, humans to communicate with each other, and humans to communicate with objects. This paper discusses some possible ways to develop context awareness to enhance the Bluetooth-devices ability to "guess" the groups that Bluetooth (end) user is seeing and using at each moment. Introduction Bluetooth-technology [15] enables objects to communicate with each other, humans to communicate with each other, and humans to communicate with objects. Using Bluetooth means forming groups among devices that do not traditionally communicate with each other, at least not directly, and which may not belong to the same category of object groups in the user's mind, thus bringing forth a Pic 1, Bluetooth service scenario [2] variety of expectations as to how the system will Also, let us further stress that since these Bluetooth group connections are no longer visible to the end user, understanding the make-up

The method without the need of changes in the already fixed has been implemented in a Bluetooth-capable installed network topology. power strength of the surrounding Bluetooth access The range estimation of the positioning system points. Since the Bluetooth device do not provide any interface to extract the real received signal Keywords: position estimation, indoor positioning, Bluetooth strength, our developed positioning system is using the RSSI value provided as defined in the standard Because of no line of sight restrictions and the effects (reflection and attenuations) due to the person who holds a Bluetooth device, the equation for signal propagation in free-fields is not suited for the indoor area. The Bluetooth specification does not provide any possibility to extract the signal strength in a direct way. Therefore,

The main goal of the project is to design and prototype an infrastructure for Bluetooth access providing communi-cation services in public places. Bluetooth and ubiquitious computing Bluetooth is a very promising technology to interconnect such small devices (Figure 1), form a communicating PAN, enable ubiquitous computing environments and connect the PAN to the network by a Bluetooth access point (BAP). This project seeks to design and prototype a Bluetooth access providing com-munication services. A user in a public place, e.g. an airport lounge or hotel room, can be offered access to various information and telecom ser-vices via Bluetooth. Bluetooth has advantages compared to WLAN (see Table 2), which will make Bluetooth the preferred method to connect personal devices to the outside world. While WLAN addresses the data segment, Bluetooth is superior in other segments, especially with respect to power management, applicability to various devices and the interoperability

This paper provides an overview of Bluetooth technology with a specific focus on security and one class of Bluetooth Human Interface Devices: keyboards and mouse products. Bluetooth computing has created a major advance in personal computer interaction and, as with any new technology, understanding it is the key to envisioning how it can make a contribution in the workplace. The Bluetooth SIG diligently works with our members to investigate any issues that are reported to understand the root cause of the issue. Bluetooth has a longer range and yet is less susceptible to interference, enabling co-location of more devices in a smaller area than is possible with 27 MHz devices. While certain classes of devices in one piconet may also be connected to other Bluetooth piconets, this is never the case for keyboards and mouse products. This sharing of the frequency band is a key reason why Bluetooth communications need to be robust and resistant
Abstract- In order to cope with the environmental impacts on Bluetooth data transmission diversity techniques were examined. A Bluetooth antenna diversity demonstrator was developed. Thus, antenna diversity was found to be a powerful technique for improving the quality of Bluetooth links. Presently, Bluetooth is the fastest growing wireless communication technology. Mobile phones and PDA's as well as car equipment, refrigerators, even luggage have been published as Bluetooth carrying objects. Serial cable replacement, combination of Bluetooth and Internet technologies, industrial access points, wireless sensors and actuators can be industrial uses of Bluetooth. Bluetooth baseband controller has an on-chip asynchronous serial interface UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter) which allows the communication between the host (PC) and the Bluetooth baseband controller in full duplex mode.   Scaling of screen and bitmaps Backwards compatibility with Symbian OS v7.0s and v8.0 At the same time there are number of extensions to the functionality available to third party developers, in particular in the following areas Bluetooth extensions This is supported by an implementation of the Bluetooth Network Encapsulation Protocol, or BNEP, which defines a packet format for Bluetooth network encapsulation used to transport common networking protocols over the Bluetooth link. Due to the Bluetooth protocols, any network with more than two devices needs to be a star configuration, with one node taking on packet forwarding and routing roles. Symbian's Bluetooth PAN support allows a Symbian OS phone to take on such a role, sharing a network with other suitably equipped phones, Windows-based PCs or Apple Mac computers Symbian OS now supports both the PANu and PAN GN profiles. It also allows peer-to-peer connection between two PANus which allows IP-based traffic to flow from and .
