Collaboration portlets allow you to engage your students in a variety of interactive formats including Forums, Live Chats, Email (via Coursemates) and Task Manager.http://www.colum.edu/oasis/PDF_folder/collaboration.pdf. Forums allow you to create Categories, Topics and Threads (posts) between yourself and students in your class. By default, the Forums portlet appears on the Collaboration Page of your course, along with Coursemates, Chat and Task Manager portlets. To begin using Forums, click on “Go to Main Screen” at the bottom right hand side of the Forums portlet. Creating Forum Categories You can create Topics and post threads without creating Categories. However, if you wish to keep your Forums better organized, creating Categories is a great way to do so. You can conduct live chat room discussions using the Chat Room portlet. You must have your browser pop-up blocker turned off or set to accept pop-ups from the Oasis site in order for the Chat Room to work. In addi-tion, if you wish to use Advanced Admin-istration features while in the chat, you will need to use Internet Explorer 5.5 or above and a Windows Operating System. Accessing the Chat Room The Chat Room portlet is located on the Collaboration page of your course. To open the Chat Room, simply click on the General Discussion link in the Chat Room portlet. Once in the Chat Room you simply type your message (with or without emoticons) into the Message field then click send (or use the return key). There is only ONE chat server for the entire chat system. That chat server can run on any machine and all chat clients must know the IP address of the chat server machine. Chat Client - Registers with chat server upon initialization. Allows a chat user to communicate with other chat clients. Chat Screen - Displays messages that the local chat client has sent to remote chat clients. 1 - Register Message: A chat client lets the server know that it exists and provides a screen name, ip address of the chat screen, port for the chat screen, and status of the chat client. The client provides the screen name of the chat client it's interested in and the server provides the buddy's screen name, ip address of buddy chat screen, port of buddy chat screen, and status of buddy chat client. 0 - Chat with buddies This menu option causes the chat client to prompt the user for a text message to send to another chat client. The chat server returns a string which contains a list of all chat client screen names (excluding the requesting chat client) separated by '\n' characters. There are two chat clients (bob and becky), a chat screen for each client, and a single chat server. The chat client will send chat messages to the screen listening at port 15000, and update the chat server located at the machine with the numeric IP address 127.0.0.1 and port 17000. Build the system in stages: Stage 1: chat client with all menu options, but menu options are stubbed out Stage 2: chat screen with ability of chat client to talk to it's local chat screen Stage 3: chat ... In the end, we hope CHAT helps insurance plans be more in tune with the thoughts of everyday people.http://www.med.umich.edu/bioethics/education/CHATFacilitatorsGuide.pdf. As you play CHAT, you will learn about health care and insurance. These labels will be attached to sheets of paper that you work on during the CHAT game. CHAT involves a good deal of group discussion. Thank you for taking the time to play the CHAT game today. Before we begin, let’s take a minute to go over the CHAT Players Instructions. As it says on your player’s instructions: The purpose of CHAT is to help people better understand health insurance and to help individuals and groups make informed health plan choices. In CHAT, you will make a health insurance plan for this entire community. The best way to learn CHAT is to play it. CHAT takes about two hours and thirty minutes from start to finish. You should now be approximately 20 minutes into CHAT. Your CHAT Game Board has fifteen wedges (note to F: this may change depending on how you designed the game). You will use the CHAT Event Wheel to see the results of the choices you made in Part 1. In turn, each of you will spin the CHAT Event Wheel, and the ball will land on a picture or symbol. Depending on where the ball lands, you will then get a CHAT Health Event that has a picture or symbol on it that matches the picture or symbol where the ball landed on the Event Wheel. The Chat pod is used to send text messages to other meeting participants and to receive messages from other participants.http://www.suu.edu/scps/imic/breeze/Chat_Pod.pdf. Sending text messages During a meeting, you can use the Chat pod to compose a text message and address it to a specific participant or to all presenters at the meeting or to all presenters and all participants. To send a text message: In the pop-up menu at the bottom of the Chat pod, select one of the following addressees: - Everyone - Presenters - The name of a specific participant to whom you want to send a message Click the Text box in the Chat pod. An insertion point appears in the text box. Do one of the following: - Click the Enter button next to the text field. - Press Enter or Return on your keyboard. Your name appears in the Chat pod, followed by the addressee you selected and your message. Receiving a message When you receive a chat message from a meeting participant, your Chat pod shows the sender’s name and the message. If the message was addressed to everyone, the sender’s name is followed by the message. If the message was sent only to you, the sender’s name is followed by “(privately).” Note: This report has been revised from the May 2000 report to include discussions of chat washing operations, wash water analyses, chemical tests for chat, and graphs.http://www.deq.state.ok.us/lpdnew/Tarcreek/revchatwashpaper603.pdf. The purpose of this sampling was to provide information concerning the chemical and physical characteristics of the chat. Analyses of chat and process water, before and after washing, will provide data on what effect washing has on the lead content (and other contaminants) of chat and process water. It was assumed that chat was used as aggregate in the asphalt during the construction of this highway. Chat washing is used to separate the large particles of chat and remove the finer sized particles. Dry screening uses a vibrating harp screen with approximately 5 mm openings to separate out the fine sized particles of chat into a stockpile for usage. The large particles from dry screening and raw chat are used as the input materials for the washing (wet sieving) operation. The average soil lead levels for the two roads with chat were 266 mg/kg and 233 mg/kg, while the average for the control road (without chat) was 54 mg/kg. Chat washing is used to separate the large particles of chat and remove the finer sized particles and produces stockpiles of coarse chat (wet screened coarse) and sand sized chat (wet screened sand screw fines). Raw chat samples were composites from many parts of each of the two chat piles. Twelve samples of sieved chat were analyzed from composites of raw chat taken at both washing sites along with one duplicate. The washed chat has smaller lead concentrations than raw chat, both having much less lead than in the sediments. ... This Version 3.1.0.0 contains a very exciting new feature called Grid View™ as well as a number of modifications, maintenance updates and fixes. 1. We have made an incredible step forward in offering the BEST of BOTH worlds to our users. ChatStat now supports two views. The traditional thin instant messenger display (now called IM View) has been coupled with a NEW full screen and completely sizable Grid View™ – using the F8 key we have created a hotkey toggle driven method to switch the Chatstat user interface instantaneously. So now power users can elect to display chatstat in a full screen or partial screen mode that displays IP visitor information in a matrix or ‘Grid’. This view is particularly popular with Operators that manage numerous websites (because the site displays in a column). Or for users that are transitioning from competitor Chat systems (that shall remain anonymous). The Accept/Deny buttons are no longer located at the bottom of the Call Center, instead new Green and Red buttons will be displayed when a Chat request comes in. Users that have activated VOIP/Skype will now have the option of displaying the intermediate Web side window to have the visitor select whether they want to Chat or a call back. 2. Updated INCOMING CHAT REQUEST section to optimize the interface. This section automatically expans when there are incoming chat/call requests. 3. The ‘Hi’ button (for Canned greetings) in the operator Chat Window no longer opens the Canned Greetings menu. In order to simplify the interface we have removed the option to change canned greetings from the ... The vegetation of the IBA is characterised by the occurrence of a large area of wet evergreen forest, while Fokienia forest is also present (Thewlis et al.http://www.birdlifeindochina.org/iba_laos/pdf/la023_nam_chat.pdf. 1998). The IBA lies within the Annamite mountains, at a point where the summit ridges are relatively low (below 1,000 m asl) and do not bar the passage of rain clouds carried by the north-eastern monsoon. In addition, the IBA also experiences the south-western monsoon, which brings rain to the rest of Lao P.D.R. (Evans and Timmins 1998). As a result, the area receives a greater amount of precipitation than many other areas of the Annamite mountains in Lao P.D.R. and has closer faunal affinities to the eastern flanks of the Annamites in Vietnam. The avifauna of the wet evergreen forest in the IBA has affinities with forest at higher elevations within Nakai-Nam Theun National Protected Area. Furthermore, the IBA supports Great Hornbill Buceros bicornis, Brown Hornbill Anorrhinus tickelli and Rufous-necked Hornbill Aceros nipalensis. While, by itself, the IBA might not be able to support viable populations of all of these species in the long-term, it forms part of a network of contiguous sites throughout the Annamite mountains that might. Finally, the IBA supports one of the most significant known populations of Saola Pseudoryx nghetinhensis in Lao P.D.R. During a survey in 1997, an estimated 12 males were heard on the eastern slope of Phou Chomvoy, an estimated 33 males were heard along a 10 km section of the Ban Nahoua logging road, and a maximum of four males in one day were heard along the upper Nam Chat and its tributaries (Tobias 1997). During a survey ...
