No longer the antithesis of working hard, on-line chat has become an integral part of core business processes in some organisations.http://www.steptwo.com.au/papers/kmc_chat/pdf/KMC_Chat.pdf. Across both the public and private sectors there is a trend toward online chat as a valid business tool, particularly in call centre en-vironments. By using online chat to supple-ment traditional information sources such as intranets and training folders, staff are provided with answers to specific problems and questions and access to specific staff in real–time. This article explores the use of online chat in business and describes a case study of the use of instant messaging within a national enquiry centre for a government department that fields calls from the public across Aus-tralia. Whereas email is to an electronic ver-sion of sending letters through the post, on-line chat is more like having a conversation with one or more people. Information is passed in real time and users can see wheth-er others are available to chat. Users can have several chat sessions go-ing at one time with different individuals and groups. Typically within the call centre environment there is one team chat session that is open all day running alongside one-to-one sessions. Most instant messaging applications provide the facility to save a chat session for later ref-erence by participants. Chat room Chat rooms are usually set up and named to promote a particular subject. As with instant messaging everyone sees what everyone else has typed, though small groups can break off and engage in their own chat. Chat session This is the actual instant messaging session or sessions that are happening at any given time. ...

Moderator Joy During this chat we will explore the definition of "off-time," talk about "wearing off," and describe how people with PD might describe their complex symptoms to their physician.http://www.wemove.org/par/otm_chat_transcript.pdf. We will also talk about the various approaches to treatment for "off-time" management. Moderator Joy WE MOVE is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of movement disorders and providing lay and professional audiences with balanced, timely, and accurate information on these complex neurological disorders. If you have a question for Dr. Stacy, please type it into the message box at the bottom of your chat screen and then hit enter to send your question to the Moderators. Moderator Joy If you wish to say hi to a friend in the room, do not use the message box at the bottom of your screen. Moderator Joy We will do our best to answer all questions; however, it is possible that we will not have time to answer all the questions. Moderator Joy We have a lot of ground to cover this evening so let's start off with a few basic questions (which WE MOVE received before the chat began) about "off-time" and its management. Moderator Cate This is a fully moderated chat, meaning that your questions will not appear on the main screen. This is because we are using a format known as a moderated chat. To do so, simply click the "user" tab on the right-hand side of your screen and double click on the name of the person (XXX) with whom you would like to chat. A special thank you to each and every one of you for participating in the WE MOVE Off-time Management in PD chat event, funded through an educational grant by ...

The e-Chat Group e-mailing list is a service provided by the National Lodge of the Theosophical Society in America.http://www.theosophical.org/local_groups/nationallodge/e-Chat_General_Information.pdf. Our intention is to provide an opportunity for NL members to exchange views on Theosophy and to interpret current events in light of Theosophy. Discussions are completely open to any theosophical topics. New discussion topics may be initiated by a member of the list at any time, so we may have more than one on-going discussion, labeled by Subject line. To ensure focus, messages will be moderated by the National Lodge, meaning that messages will be screened for suitability before being sent to the e-Chat Group by the list moderator(s) at the National Lodge. However, views expressed in the e-Chat discussion group are not the views of the National Lodge or the Theosophical Society in America. They are solely the views of the participants. Note that by default, your personal identity will not be revealed to the Group. Your e-mail address and name will not appear in your postings unless you give that information in your message. The Group is intended to be informal – think of it as a lunch room chat, which can be as brief or in-depth as you make it. Please try to keep postings easily digestible, anywhere from one sentence to not longer than a few paragraphs. Remember – this is your chance to bring up a topic that you’ve been itching to talk about. With hundreds of theosophists at your fingertips, it’s time to get typing! Enjoy the e-Chat and thanks for participating!

If parents are concerned, they should contact their child’s physician .http://www.utmem.edu/pediatrics/general/clinical/m-chat-scoring.pdf. Abstract Autism, a severe disorder of development, is difficult to detect in very young children. However, children who receive early intervention have improved long-term prognoses. The Modified – Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M–CHAT), consisting of 23 yes/no items, was used to screen 1076 children. Thirty of 44 children given a diagnostic/developmental evaluation were diagnosed with a disorder on the autism spectrum. Nine items pertaining to social relatedness and communication were found to have the best discriminability between children diagnosed with and without autism/PDD. Cutoff scores were created for the best items and the total checklist. Results indicate that the M-CHAT is a promising instrument for the early detection of autism. The M-CHAT is an expanded American version of the original CHAT from the U.K. The M-CHAT has 23 questions using the original nine from the CHAT as its basis. Its goal is to improve the sensitivity of the CHAT and position it better for an American audience. The M-CHAT has been steadily expanding its radius of usage in the state of Connecticut and surrounding New England states. The M-CHAT tests for autism spectrum disorders against normally developing children. M-CHAT Scoring Instructions Below are listed the failed responses for each item on the M-CHAT.

Using chat you can explore depth as well as breadth of your students' knowledge and understanding of the concepts. Good preparation and structure is critical to the success of your chat session. Some instructors use pre-typed questions or short comments that they can cut and paste into the chat program from their word processor. Blackboard Release 6 has created two tools within the Collaboration area: the Virtual Classroom and Lightweight Chat.http://www.uncfsu.edu/conted/facultysupport/PDF/Bb6-Chat-Features-Comparison.pdf. The Virtual Classroom may load and perform slowly. As such, instructors may wish to use the Lightweight Chat whenever possible. These tools may be used separately or together but their features may not be combined. Chat works well for brainstorming or if format is well structured ahead of time. Guidelines for the chat session may be developed ahead of time and posted at the end of the session or posted elsewhere in the course. These can be pasted into the chat textbox or posted in email or on the discussion board before the chat session. If your screen is not set at that resolution, you may find that the chat text entry panel falls outside of the screen. Allows a sub-set of learners to enter a private chat area and use the virtual classroom tools. Participants may navigate in the site they have browsed to, however the chat interface and navigation bars disappear after the second level of navigation. In order to return to the chat room, you will need to use the Back option that appears at the top of the menu when the user has clicked the right mouse button. A few days before the Colloquium, on the 11th of April, four countries that participated in the "Stop violence, start in school" Middle East and North Africa regional project (Palestine, Morocco, Yemen and Tunisia) were involved in a live chat on violence in schools.http://www.unicef.org/voy/media/Chat_Tunis_International_Colloquium.pdf. In order to ensure good conditions for the organization of the chat and to meet the close deadline, participation was limited to two students per country, who participated from the UNICEF offices in their respective countries. The two Tunisian students involved in the session also participated in a panel discussion scheduled on the last day of the Colloquium. Their speeches drew on their own experience and on key elements from the chat session. Talking points for the chat session 1) Do you feel comfortable going to school and do you think that school provides you with a safe and friendly environment? 2) Have you personally experienced violence in school or have any of your friends, class-mates or relatives experienced violence in school? 3) What is school violence for you? 4) What do you think are the main causes leading to violent attitudes or behavior on the part of adults or students in school? 5) What impact does school violence have on your study and motivation? 6) What impact does school violence have on school life (teachers, students, school atmosphere and environment)? 7) How is violence dealt with by your school? What do you think are the two most efficient measures taken by the school to cope with the problem? Why do you think these measures are efficient and work? 8) What about parents? 9) Do you think that students participate and their ...

The collaborative functions have been added in the context of an Internet chat session in which multiple users may participate from the Internet.http://www.informs-cs.org/wsc02papers/065.pdf. In addition to the usual functions supported by chat applications, user information sharing is supported. The results described in this paper extend prior efforts by enabling the creation and manage-ment of virtual worlds that allow interactive collaboration through a chat session. In addition to the expected capa-bilities associated with a chat application, users may share information from sessions each has created. A chat that links clients and their Belfore and Battula worlds to a chat server enables communication and modi-fication of the worlds. The chat application, implemented in Java, provides a method allowing immediate communication among clients through a chat server application. The latter part of this section explains the chat client, chat server, importing a session and exporting a session. The chat server is capable of accepting connections from chat clients and relaying messages amongst the clients. Information relating to individual users is stored as browser parameters, previously set during the login process by servlets, that the chat client uses to negotiate a socket connection with the chat server. In typical “chat” fashion, Figure 5: Chat Client Appearance the user responds to the messages in the bulletin board by entering a message to send. In addition, the chat client handles functions such as adding a user to the user list upon logging in, deleting the user when logged out, and managing the client chat display. User information for the chat server is ...
