Labs has been contracted by Dialogic to perform product evaluations on
production-ready or near-production-ready products that are based on CT
Media. All fees for these tests are fully paid for by Dialogic. Dialogic
has donated CT Media software and speech card peripheral equipment that is
used in these tests. Dialogic has also helped CT Labs establish a
relationship with vendors Hewlett-Packard and Compaq to outfit the Innovator Program Test Lab at
CT Labs facilities with computer equipment. The CT Media Lab at CT Labs is
set up to handle testing on the CT Media platform for either turnkey
solutions or software-only products. For software-only products, the CT
Media Lab is equipped with two computer systems and network environments:
one system is provided by Compaq, and the
other by Hewlett Packard. Each system is comprised of a server to host

"Two years ago, SAIC integrated TechnoCom's software platform with our FleetOptimizer system being delivered to BellSouth, and the system is now operating with over 15,000 vehicles," said Bud Semon, SAIC vice president in the Wireless Systems Group. "This system is helping to provide cost savings and functionality to the client." TechnoCom's software provides the capability to control the behavior of in-vehicle location tracking and messaging devices, providing the flexibility to remotely alter event reporting without manual reprogramming. TechnoCom's Programmable Event Generator (PEG™) and LM Exchange, a network-neutral middleware platform, were enhanced to provide a dual-mode satellite and terrestrial interface to enable cost effective message routing. Messages are sorted depending on priority: critical messages, such as distress alerts, are sent immediately andWe tested the LH 6000 with 1, 2, 4, and 6 processors enabled and the Compaq 6400R with 1, 2, and 4 processors enabled. As shown in Figure 2, the peak throughput for the HP NetServer LH 6000 was 10% higher with four processors and 38% higher with six processors than the Compaq Proliant 6400R with four processors. We suspect that the HP's faster memory and Serverworks chipset give it an advantage over the Compaq at the same processor count. We can also see in Figure 3 that the ability to scale to six processors puts the HP's performance significantly above that of the Compaq server. The HP NetServer LH 6000 also scaled better from two to four processors when compared to the Compaq Proliant 6400R - providing better than 70% scaling where the Compaq Proliant 6400R scaled between 50 and 60 percent. The HP LH 6000 was fully populated with 6 processors and the Compaq Proliant 6400R was fully populated with 4 processors. C. Using the information to evaluate other options Suppose that a friend of yours who knows a lot about computers told you that Hewlett Packard computers are more reliable than emachines and Compaq computers. How does the ad describe the hard drives of the two Compaq computers? How is the memory of the other Compaq computer described? Using this description of the Compaq computer as your model, how would you describe a processor with a speed of 866 MHz if it is manufactured by Intel and is a Pentium III model? The two Compaq computers come with the same printer. Study the rebate coupon (see below) for Compaq computers, monitors, and printers on the next page. 4. What will Compaq do if you forget to include the bar code for the printer with your coupon? 5. Most problems can be resolved without any loss of information stored on your computer. Information contained in this document is likely to vary from time to time, so you should contact the supplier or vendor to verify details. At that time, the IS Manager, or Delegate, will decide the fate of all computer equipment, coming from the ship, based on input from the shipboard IS MCS, the repair notes on the shipping label and on observation. If the answer is "Repair" arrangements for repair are made either by Property or by IS depending on whether the item is or isn't covered by the Compaq Shipboard Maintenance Contract. Ship Equipment to be Repaired Equipment returning from the ship for repair may or may not be on the Compaq Shipboard Maintenance Contract. Items covered by the Compaq contract need only the Repair ID and ODP# noted. 2. Also at SNW, LSI Logic on Monday unveiled a high-end addition to its E-Series family of storage systems and Compaq introduced its StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array storage server, or "the Enterprise" for short. With the 3800, Brocade becomes one of several vendors demonstrating new and faster 2Gb switch technology at the trade show. QLogic, McData, Inrange, and Gadzooxs make up a sampling of the rest of the 2Gb switch field at SNW. Brocade's 16-port Brocade 2Gb SilkWorm 3800 is another step towards achieving Brocade's Intelligent Fabric Architecture initiative, which the company announced last April, said Camden Ford, a senior product manager for Brocade. NCBridge supports the DECnet protocol, which allows the NC900 to communicate with either Compaq OpenVMS systems or the older DEC VAX VMS systems. DECnet Overview DECnet is a network protocol, which allows two computing devices the ability to communicate with each other over a network, such as Ethernet. An analogous example would be to think of the Ethernet as a phone line. For two people to communicate over the phone line, they both must speak the same language. The same is true for two computers communicating over Ethernet. However, there are still thousands of old DEC VAX VMS systems and the newer Compaq OpenVMS systems installed that require a device to support the DECnet protocol. Customers who have either older DEC VAX VMS systems or Compaq OpenVMS systems are eager for a device like the NC900 that can communicate via the DECnet protocol.Although DEC has been a powerhouse in the past, it had recently fallen on rela-tively hard times, battered by the rise of desktop computing, including incursions by personal computers and more power-ful workstations. As many companies and organizations switched from centralized operations and computer buying began to reflect that decentralization, the computers manufac-tured by DEC have declined in numbers and importance. The irony of the relatively downward slide of DEC in recent years is that it created its business competing with IBM, by offering faster and cheaper machines than IBM mainframes yet accomplishing many of the same tasks. In recent years it faced a similar predicament itself in the face of the personal com-puter proliferation, started by the introduction of the IBM personal computer. Although DEC now produces a complete range of computers, from personal computers to mainframes, it has seen little success in the highly-competitive Vibration_measuringInstrument title: Photo: HP Compaq Notebook PCU: 1.7 GHz Pentium IV Technical Memory DDR RAM 1024 MB details: 15.4" LCD DisplaySoftware License Agreement - iPAQThe term "Software" shall also include any upgrades, modified versions, updates, additions, and copies of the Software licensed to you by Clarinet Systems. Compaq Management Agents will be re-branded as the HP Insight Management Agents and Compaq Insight Manager 7 will be re-branded Insight Manager 7. As part of the re-branding process, you may notice some inconsistency between product user interfaces and documentation: some screenshots, legacy applications, or documents might still reference old product names or include pre-merger Compaq logos and icons. In all cases, the name "Compaq Management Agents" is equivalent to "HP Insight Management Agents" and "Compaq Insight Manager 7" is equivalent to "Insight Manager 7". For your convenience, we have included the following table that outlines the pre-merger Compaq and post-merger HP names for the management software products included on the Management CD and on this web site.
