The Buy-It-Now option in eBay auctions presents the bidders with an opportunity to end the bidding by paying the BIN price. It is reported that eBay's second-quarter sales revenue in 2004 is 52 percent higher relative to the corresponding figure the year before.1 Sellers have a choice to go with the online auction and accept bids or offer the buyers a Buy-it-now option. Unlike some other online auction houses, there is no extension of time at the end of eBay auctions. EBay also offers sellers an option to set a secret reserve price that is not observable to the bidders. EBay users can leave feedback for each other anytime up to 90 days after the completion of a transaction and the feedback assigned is permanent. That assumption is consistent with the fact that most eBay auction sites have counters that display the number of visitors to the site. Hence, we conclude that in eBay auctions, the probability of no sale is higher for auctions with a BIN option. We first highlight

In British Columbia, we're thrilled by their work ethic and capabilities. They're helping drive eBay's global success." "Greater Vancouver has proved to be an excellent decision," says Lynn Hardin, eBay's Senior Director of Customer Support in British Columbia and one of the key members of the search committee. "Our site analysis was based on three key criteria for future employees: Internet and computer literacy, knowledge of eBay, and the ability to speak many different languages. San Jose-based eBay provides the means for people to buy and sell goods and services online. eBay's Canadian site, eBay.ca, is the number one visited retail site in Canada. While eBay had initially planned for more than 550 employees for Greater Vancouver, the company quickly doubled its hiring projections due to its phenomenal growth, and the quality of Internet-savvy employee it was able to hire in British Columbia. Today eBay's British Columbia employees provide 24/7 support through email and

eBay is the leading global online marketplace for the sale of goods and services by a diverse community of individuals and businesses. The eBay community includes 49.7 million registered users. Whether it's managing the flow of corporate email or maintaining the production network, eBay relies on stable and reliable connectivity from anywhere in the world. Spotty dial up connections outside U.S. cities and expensive long distance charges were some of the issues confronting eBay's IT staff. In early 2000, eBay evaluated several remote connectivity solutions and selected iPass based on superior client technology, cost efficiency, and ubiquitous global coverage. "For example, if an eBay employee is traveling in Switzerland and needs to urgently connect to the eBay corporate network, he can easily find the local connections, quickly establish a reliable, fast and cost-effective Internet connection and launch his/her VPN. This is critical for eBay's business -- when we need it to

According to a new report from Byte Level Research, eBay is on the verge of becoming a truly global company. Already more than half of eBay's registered users live outside of the US, and within the next 18 months, more than half of eBay's revenues will be generated outside the US. However, Byte Level's report raises questions about eBay's pace of global expansion. Byte Level recommends that eBay accelerate expansion into new markets as a hedge against China not performing as well as expected. "eBay is wisely betting big on China," said John Yunker, president of Byte Level Research and author of the report. "But wide-scale customer acceptance could take longer than eBay is hoping. We recommend that eBay expand into more markets sooner rather than later. We also recommend that eBay launch a Spanish Web site for US customers." Although eBay withdrew from Japan in 2002, eBay's recent launch of the international classified ad portal, Kijiji, represents eBay's quiet return to this

What's Hot: eBay Dropoff Franchises

eBay fulfillment franchises are popping up in hopes of becoming the eBay middleman of choice. Whether it's a vintage Star Trek lunch pail discovery for one diehard Trekkie or a mother's way to declutter her house, many have found eBay to be the answer for buying or selling something. In fact, eBay addicts search for just about anything and everything their hearts desire, and sellers can turn a little side income into a full-blown business. While eBay's Trading Assistants Program, launched in February 2002, enables individuals to assist others in selling items on eBay, franchises such as iSold It, Snappy Auctions and QuikDrop execute that concept on a grander scale. customers had such phenomenal success selling just a few items on eBay that they decided to just close their e-commerce Web site and move it all over to eBay. Marsha Collier, author of eBay for Dummies, knows what it takes to sell successfully--she's an eBay PowerSeller. In fact, Collier highly recommends gaining

The aim of the HOST Volunteer program is to provide excellent customer service to visitors and residents in the City of San Jose. HOST Volunteers will perform a range of voluntary tasks that are not competitive with existing Ambassador roles at the San José International Airport. eBay Live! is the one time every year when the entire eBay Community gets together to celebrate achievements, meet old friends and make new ones, and learn ways to be even more successful on eBay. This year we'll be taking over the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, the Civic Auditorium, Montgomery Theater, Marriott, Hilton, plus museums, parks, and meeting rooms in surrounding areas. Whether you're new to eBay or an experienced PowerSeller, eBay Live! is an important part of your success! The HOST program is open to all persons satisfying the criteria. Whether you are a professional or non -professional, student, employed or unemployed, applications are sought from all sections of the community.

Special Report: eBay Dropship Profits

It doesn't matter if you're an eBay beginner or an experienced Powerseller, the information in this huge 10 volume set will make your profits soar! Tim became an eBay Powerseller in less than three months using many of the same methods described in this report. By the end of this special report you should have a working knowledge of how dropshipping really works and the ability to put that knowledge to work in your own eBay dropship business. We'll talk more about the product selection process later, but for now let's say that you decide to sell CD players on eBay. Invite them to check out your eBay store or website if you have one. This is fine within reason, but grossly over-inflated shipping costs will brand you as a crook in the eyes of the average eBay buyer and they will not buy from you. Do Your Homework eBay is too broad a subject to be covered fully here, but there are a multitude of books available that can help you start an eBay business. It's understandable
While eBay`s U.S. transaction business has been the company`s strongest growth engine, eBay`s international commerce is expanding rapidly and now accounts for nearly 38 percent of net revenues. Currently hundreds (and in the near future, it will be thousands) of eBay employees and third-party contributors will create and edit English-language and multilingual content at the eBay sites. As changes occur to the source, the U.S. English-language eBay website, an international team headquartered in San Jose, California, joins up with employees and external translators around the world to translate and update the international eBay sites. Moreover, eBay`s rich content is largely contained in files, the formats of which range from HTML to XSL (Extensible Stylesheet Language) to proprietary eBay text catalogs. In addition, this solution called for the utilization of Idiom`s Rational ClearCase connector to integrate into eBay`s file repository and work with all of eBay.
