New York, NY (June 24, 2003) - Four women who make their living in front of a camera moved behind one to create a very special exhibit for very special causes. Jessica Simpson, Kelly Rowland, Ali Landry and Holly Marie Combs today unveiled a series of photographs featuring Lovable bras, all to benefit charity. Partnering with US Weekly, Lovable asked each celebrity to select her favorite bras from an all-new Lovable collection and design a photographic vignette highlighting the bra in a way that matched her mood and personality. In three, the celebrity was also the subject; in one she was the photographer. The bras in all are due in stores this month. Each celebrity also signed PolaroidsT used for each shoot, which will be auctioned off on eBay from today, June 24 through July 4, (www.ebay.com/hookingup). The eBay package will also include poster-sized prints of the final images, the bras featured in the shoots, and specially-created Lovable "Hooking Up" camisoles featuredThink of eBay or Amazon: these are gigantic incarnations of still-recognizable business forms such as garage sales or department stores. EBay or Amazon really aren't that different from the 60's era SABRE airline ticketing system. Let me sketch out a scenario that brings all of these aspects I've been discussing together: Imagine an eBay without eBay. That is, think about how powerful eBay is as a metaphor for electronic commerce: anyone can join, anyone can list, anyone can bid, and quick-as-a-whistle eBay auctions line up supply and demand to spit out what must be the True Price. Now imagine that same process without an eBay, Inc; call the decentralized version "zBay": 1. There's no peer-to-peer real-time messaging service that can replace the eBay website today -- are we planning to bid using email?! Unlike eBay, a zBay could support secondary signals. Today, by contrast, "Items I'm Watching" is not only crude, but dead-ends with eBay Inc. because it isn't aggregated The Seller Ledger: An Auction Organizer for Selling on Ebay Hillary DePiano Priced Nostalgia: Antiques for the Next Generation The Seller Ledger Returned Items and Non-Paying Biddershh 2005 02 25We hypothesized that on-line auction bidders would herd behind other bidders even when observed choices did not reveal private information. MissionFish is now poised to create unprecedented value to the nonprofit sector as the exclusive charitable solution provider for eBay, the world's largest online marketplace. More than 85 (fyi, this number changes very frequently) million buyers and sellers belong to the eBay community, conducting over $15 billion in transactions every year. The Giving AssistantT, our internet-based item listing tool, enables eBay sellers to give some or all of their sale proceeds (10-100%) to a favorite nonprofit organization. You don't normally find this vehicle on the local car lot in Wisconsin Rapids. He found the car on Ebay and made arrangements with the seller where he would send $1000 down payment using PayPal, the seller would trailer the car to Wisconsin Rapids, and the transaction would be completed in person. After talking to the seller, the seller cancelled the auction and the transaction was han-dled off of Ebay. As it turned out they were major defects that the seller didn't show in photo-graphs. It could have been much worse because he circumvented using Ebay and PayPal and therefore he did not have their protection. The e-mail directs the user to visit a Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and bank account numbers, that the legitimate organization already has. The Web site, however, is bogus and set up only to steal the user's information. For example, 2003 saw the proliferation of a phishing scam in which users received e-mails supposedly from eBay claiming that the user's account was about to be suspended unless he clicked on the provided link and updated the credit card information that the genuine eBay already had. Because it is relatively simple to make a Web site look like a legitimate organizations site by mimicking the HTML code, the scam counted on people being tricked into thinking they0789732904errataThe information provided is on an "as is" basis. Policy/Action: One of the methods of sale is through the Internet on eBay. BLM reports the vehicles to eBay through the Oregon State Agency for Surplus Property (ORSASP), which acts as BLM's agent. BLM's vehicles/heavy equipment are being viewed worldwide, so we need to be especially conscientious when we place our advertisements and pictures on eBay. We write to bring to your attention recent developments demonstrating that federal and state laws on the books--copyright, contract, the new prohibition on circumvention of technological protection measures, and state misappropriation and trespass laws--appear adequate to prevent theft of databases.
