<   Almost everyone would like to have more money. Whether a family has a lot of money or just a little, a sound plan for spending and saving is the key to having dollars for what is needed and wanted before the money disappears in unexpected ways. A spending plan can help a family: Total all the individual yearly incomes to find the family's yearly income. Use this sum as the total family income available for expenses. Using Worksheet II, on the next page, list the amount your family spends for items purchased weekly. Consider the needs and wants of the entire family. Family Spending Plan Practice keeping financial records so you can use real amounts in planning instead of estimates. If four family members spend an average of $5.00 per day, this will be an extra $100 per week. $______

After receiving comments due by May 31, 2004, the ADR Commission made some minor revisions and is in process of making its final proposal to the Supreme Court in the fall of this year. If approved, the new rules would be implemented uniformly in all counties on a schedule approved by the Supreme Court. The proposed rules merge the circuit and family court ADR rules together wherever possible. Some highlights of possible interest to family court judges include: Rules 1 and 3: The scope of the rules are now expanded to "all contested issues in domestic relations actions filed in family court," not just custody/visitation issues. The narrow exceptions listed under Rule 3(b) remain largely unchanged. Rule 6(h): Family courts retain the power to approve or disapprove agreements reached in mediation. Rule 7(f): Following public comment, and at the request of the South Carolina Bar's Family Court Task Force, the Subcommittee added the requirement

Family-centered care is an approach to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of health care that is governed by mutually beneficial partnerships between health care providers, patients, and families. Family-centered applies to patients of all ages, and it may be practiced in any health care setting. t What are the principles of family-centered care? The definition of family, as well as the degree of family involvement in health care, is controlled by the patient, provided he or she is developmentally mature and competent to do so. t Is there a difference between family-centered care and family-focused care? In family-focused care, professionals may provide care from the position of an "expert"; they tell the family what to do. They do things to and for the patient and family and consider the family the "unit of intervention." t Does family-centered care have anything to do with family practice? Although the principles of family-centered care are particularly suited to the

In many churches and homes family worship is an optional thing, or at most a superficial exercise such as a brief table grace before meals. Remarkably, all five of us thanked our mother for her prayers and all five of us thanked our father for his leadership of our Sunday evening family worship. At the age of three God used you in family worship to con-vict me that Christianity was real. Let us remember that God often uses the restoration of family worship to usher in church revival. Spontaneous teaching that arises throughout a typical day is crucial, yet set times of family worship are also important. Being conformed to the Son, people could then share in the blessed holiness and joy of the Trin-ity 's family life. As our representative, Adam severed the relationship between the family of God and the family of mankind. Before you leave home for family vacations, gather your family in the living room and read Psalm 91 or Psalm 121. In all which the master of the family is

Children Abducted by Family Members: National Estimates and Characteristics

For the purposes of NISMART-2, family abduction was defined as the taking or keeping of a child by a family member in violation of a custody order, a decree, or other legitimate custodial rights, where the taking or keeping involved some element of concealment, flight, or intent to deprive a lawful custodian indefinitely of cus-todial privileges. Family abducted children are typically thought of as simply one subcategory of missing children; yet, in real-ity, family abductions are part of a larger problem. The family abduction estimates reported in this Bulletin are unified estimates that combine the countable family abductions described by adult caretakers and youth in the Household Surveys.1 Any individual child is counted only once, even if an abduction was reported for the same child in both the adult and youth interviews. Not surprisingly, family abductions were much more likely to occur in families where children were not living with both parents--the circumstance

Family Adjustment

This booklet will address some of the concerns and problems which the family of a person with spinal cord injury (SCI) may experience. Also, this booklet will attempt to address how life may be different, not only for your family member with SCI, but for your entire family. You will be concerned about many things when your family member is first injured. Receiving answers to your questions is important because it will help you better understand what your family member will likely be able to do and how you can best help. Just being there with her and becoming more familiar with her situation over time helped."-husband of a quadriplegic. The feelings brought out by a traumatic event such as SCI are thought to be similar in some ways to those experienced when a family member dies. Family role playing - it can be helpful for you to devise and act out responses which can be comfortably used by family members in real situations. The entire family should be involved

Unsupervised Time: Family and Child Factors Associated with Self-Care

Finally, we conduct exploratory analyses to examine the pattern of family and child characteristics associated with spending longer amounts of time in self-care. In the following section, we examine basic associations between family and child characteristics and the use of any self-care. We use t-tests to compare the use of self-care for children with and without various family and child characteristics. Family risk, which considers parental symptoms of poor mental health and par-enting stress. To address this problem, we used multivariate analyses to parse out the indepen-dent association between each child and family characteristic and self-care. This finding is not surprising in light of the developmental and family changes that occur in middle childhood. Family income is also related to the use of self-care, even after other child and family characteristics are taken into account. Looking at variables that tap child health and behavior and family risk, several factors are

Rural Family Economic Success Perhaps the most critical connection for families is the connection to economic opportunity and the achievement of family economic success. Rural family economic success means that families can meet their immediate needs, can envision a stronger financial future and can make steady progress towards achieving that vision for themselves and their children. Meeting current expenses, being able to weather unexpected events, saving for advanced education or retirement, and acquiring assets that build equity and can be leveraged, all are signs of family economic success. For all of these families, we believe that greater family economic success can be achieved when families are able to make progress towards three goals, simultaneously--to earn it, to keep it and to grow it. Rural Family Economic Success (RuFES) is less a new idea or methodology than it is a lens for focusing and a framework for connecting or augmenting existing efforts in order
