msp12_spring_03_syllabusCourse Goals & Objectives The goal of the class is for students to obtain an understanding and working knowledge of 2D animation practices, theory, and implementation. By the end of the class, students will understand how 2D animation relates to various applications used in the design industry. Analyze and critique Flash animated projects 2. PAPERS/REPORTS Students will research a Flash animation designer or Web site and write a one page review or critique. ASSIGNMENT 3 PART ONE: Estimating an animated Flash project project: Who, What, When, $ Students will learn the basics of bidding on a real world project supplied by instructor. 2. ANIMATED LOGO FOR BRAND / TYPOGRAPHY Students will work with a famous brand name supplied by instructor and will create a Flash animation to promote the brand or product. 4. FINAL PROJECT: FLASH WEB SITE Students will create Flash Web site or an HTML-based Web site that will include Flash elements. FINAL Students will complete a written final1. Create an FLA file that is 200x400; the background should be black. 2. The first scene should be one frame and contain an animated play button. 3. Scene two should also be one frame long and contain two wheels, a yellow one that rotates counter clockwise, and an orange one that rotates clockwise (see diagram below). yellow orange 4. If the user clicks on the yellow wheel the movie plays scene 3 frame 1; if the user clicks on the orange wheel the movie plays scene 3 frame 5 5. Scene 3 Frame 1 should be an animation of a lever going up and down and contain a play again button that goes back to scene 1 (see diagram below). The movement of the lever should contain a sound (one that you find and feel is suitable). 6. Scene 3 Frame 5 should contain no interactivity and the static text "the end" 7. Save your time and energy spent on aesthetics for your Flash Project. CAR 231 Introduction to Computer Art Checkpoint 2 - Flash Animation 1. Create an FLA file that is 640x480 pixels with a white background. 2. Your animation will be two scenes long. 3. The first scene will contain a play button 4. The animation in scene one will morph a blue square into a red circle and be titled "morph" 5. Scene Two is named "bounce" 6. This scene will show the red circle bouncing across the scene (not just floating around; think about how you can animate it to look like it is bouncing off of a surface) 7. The entire movie should not loop. Have you always wanted to put more "sizzle" into your Web site? For most audiences, the limitations of browsers and slow connections made animation and sound impractical for business sites but all that is changing! The proliferation of broadband Internet connections has made it possible to stretch the limits of Web presentation, and PVI Productions makes it affordable. Macromedia Flash technology requires a browser plug-in to view Flash content, a free download that is already installed on most users computers (96% of all Internet users according to the latest independent survey). The advantage of Flash is that it allows animations to be stored in very small Flash is often used to create splashy intro screens, dynamic demonstrations or small games to add interest and interactivity to traditional Web sites. Flash is just one of the technologies PVI can use to take your site to the next level. The new site will include exam-ples of Flash animation, expanded Web Hosting In this tutorial you will create a simple animation in Macromedia Flash. You will draw a turtle using Flash drawing tools and animate the turtle swimming across the screen. This tutorial was created using Macromedia Flash MX, so if you are using Macromedia Flash 5 or Macromedia Flash MX 2004 your interface will look slightly different than what is pictured here. We're going to put aside the turtle for a minute in order to explain some Flash terminology that is necessary to cover before we begin animating our turtle. Notice that Flash has made a copy of your first key frame in frame 3 of your animation, and that when the playhead is on frame 2 it is showing the drawing of the turtle that is in frame 1. Fortunately, Flash offers an alternative in which many simple animations can be created automatically with only a little help from you. In Flash you can make a drawing or animation into a symbol. Now that the turtle has been turned into a symbol we can ask Flash handoutMacromedia Flash 5.0 is a powerful software application that allows users to create original vector animations for web development and other media. Flash is capable of creating animated menus and buttons perfect for any project, as well as website introductions and entire websites. Beyond the World Wide Web, Flash can be used to create self-contained modules that can be distributed on CD, a local intranet, and anything in between. The menu used in Flash is very similar to any other windows based program. The timeline in Flash is used to organize each scene in a movie, which should be divided into layers. The toolbar in Macromedia Flash 5.0 is similar to toolbars associated with other Macromedia programs. The panels used in Flash 5.0 are associated with various tools throughout the software and provide additional settings for each tool. Movie Clips: are separate animations that run dependently of the main movie timeline; however, movie clips contain their own ToKC 12-19Band and Singing Concert this April 7th at 7pm by Tana Jay The Kino School Band and Singers have lots of plans for this coming concert! Nancy has been a wonderful teacher and organizer. This con-cert will be based on the roots of Rock n' Roll: everything leading up to Rock n' Roll, genres such as Folk, Blues, Country, Gospel etc. Flash Animation by Brian Flash animation is a program on the computer that makes cartoons; some of the cartoons are real simple and some are complex. It's his senior project; he is making his senior speech with flash animation. Kino has had flash animation for about three years, but this year flash has grown in interest (big time). Students ages five to eighteen have been using flash. Now Flash is found on three of the Kino computers.tip43.aiddI'm going to start by quickly drawing a cartoon hand -- the Wacom tablet makes the Flash paintbrush pressure sensitive. Press harder, and I get a thick stroke -- softer for a thinner one. (The cursor grows and shrinks depending upon pressure -- something I wish other graphics applications did). Step 2 To make an animation, I need to convert my Hand to a symbol -- it's automatically entered in the library when it's converted. I'll draw an arm and make it into a symbol after this. Step 3 But as you see, when I create a motion tween, my animationbites. The wrist keeps popping out of the sleeve. So There's even more great tips in the Flash 5 Cartoons and Games book.Multimedia systems and animation Course code: INF 313 Program of studies: Informatics Level of studies: Bachelor (undergraduate) studies ECTS credits: 6 VMU credits: 4 Course Objectives This course is prepared to present the wide range of the multimedia application and the ways to do it. Flash files play through a freely available plug-in that interacts with a user's web browser. Flash files can provide a great deal of innovative animation and motion while maintaining a relatively small file size and a full color palette. Flash files are particularly well suited to large ad spaces such as the 600x200 pixel Rigzone homepage position. Do not exceed file size requirements as specified for each ad product Do not exceed ad dimensions as specified for each ad product Limit number of colors used to reduce file size while maintaining high quality Optimize animations - remove redundant pixels between frames, eliminate comments, Do not exceed file size requirements as specified for each ad product Do not exceed ad dimensions as specified for each ad product Embed your link in your .swf file Use a white 1619Abstract--We are developing interactive web pages for distance learning that use Macromedia Flash animation in undergraduate electrical engineering courses in circuits and signals and systems. We have animated key concepts such as steady-state analysis, time scale, time reversal, and convolution to allow students to better visualize these ideas. We are also developing ways to allow student input and immediate feedback in problem solving. The interactive web pages will be formally evaluated this year. We have been attempting to address these issues using Macromedia Flash, a widely available package for animation, in introductory electrical engineering courses (circuits and continuous time linear systems). In an attempt to put this interactive model on-line, we again used Flash. Interactive learning is implemented by using Flash to create buttons that the students can push to see examples worked out step-by-step. Flash animation has also been used to illustrate a number offlashintroFlash is an increasingly popular format for making animations for the Web. Because it is Vector-based it creates fast, tiny files making it suitable for the Internet. In the latter category, Flash has even been used by studios to make tradtional animated cartoons for television and short films. My own Flash experience has been in making simple animated web challenges for students. There are hundreds of Flash tutorials available on the Web, aimed at different levels of experience, from beginner to advanced. A couple of examples to check out are: www.flashkit.com www.echoecho.com/flash.htm www.macromedia.com/support/flash/productinfo/tutorials This tutorial was aimed at users of Flash 5 but has been updated for the latest version, Flash MX 2004.
