flash key concepts

Flash is a powerful piece of software, with applications ranging from a vector-based drawing package at one end to a highly complex ActionScript programming language at the other. This tutorial will explore these basic animation Key Concepts through a series of short projects. If you look at all the layers together, you can see the whole animation, but each separate layer only contains a small part of the whole animation. You control the order that things happen in your animation by placing events in different frames along the timeline. Next time you use your symbol in the animation, Flash refers to its library copy. So a symbol can be used hundreds of times in an animation or just once - the file size is the same. Then you ask Flash to add tweening to fill in the animation between the 2 keyframes. You are going to return the animation to the state it was before you animated the circle symbol. Instead of using the `circle' Graphic symbol and animating

Flash Introduction

After analyzing a multitude of Flash movies, you should begin to see a trend or a style that is consistent with most Flash movies - they use text and text transitions along with an array of quick snapshots and sounds to keep you mesmerized. Many of us should be able to easily identify a Flash animation, and this identification skill is important because it will help establish what the scope and limits of Flash are. This documentation will give you the information you need in order to create simple, interactive animations in Flash. In addition, familiarity with vector drawing programs and basic animation techniques will be beneficial to learning Flash. For example, Flash animations are often used in combination with HTML elements on a web page and you may need to change the size of the Flash animation to fit properly with the layout of the rest of the page. We will now look at another type of Flash animation technique called motion tweening that will provide a

Releasing layers for Flash animation

With the Release to Layers command and expanded SWF export options, it's easy to construct dynamic Flash animations from layers in Illustrator. You can automatically generate layers consisting of objects that build up cumulatively and then export the layers to SWF frames. Follow this tip to see how you can create animated text that builds itself up character by character. 1. Create a line of text. Open a new Illustrator artwork window in RGB color mode. This cumulative behavior is especially useful for preparing animations of objects that build up step by step, as if being painted or written. In the Flash Format Options dialog box, for Export As, choose AI Layers to SWF Frames, and click OK. Because we are building an animation, we have chosen to export the layers to separate SWF frames. Drag and drop the SWF file into your browser for viewing, or import into Flash for further editing.

Macromedia Flash 5 No program has made as much impact on the web as Flash with its ability to create highly effective and interactive animations and content at a small file size. More advanced exercises will include timeline animation, layer masks, working with symbols for greater efficiency and using sound. All of Flash's many
Academic use of animation Reasons NOT to use animations 1. + Many programs can create animated gifs, including both ImageReady and Flash + All web browsers can view animated gifs without a plug-in. All users must download plug-in in order to see your content ImageReady ImageReady vs. Flash ImageReady comes bundled with the latest versions of PhotoShop, and is the Adobe solution for preparing all kinds of images for the web (not just animations). It is a pixel-based animation tool; this means that it stores animations as frames where each varies from the next based on differences in the small square dots of color that are used to display things on the screen. The only animated output type ImageReady offers is the animated gif. Flash Flash is a very popular piece of software that can be used to add animation and interactivity to your website. Flash can output animated gifs, as well as Flash-proprietary formats. Because Flash is a vector-based animation tool (see page 2 for

Define Accessibility as it applies to Flash

Accessibility as it applies to Flash Because Flash is a primarily visual medium, it presents unique advantages and challenges in terms of accessibility. Flash is held to different Section 508 standards. Flash MX has been redesigned to incorporate multiple accessibility features and currently, usability guru Jakob Nielsen is working with Macromedia to improve the software even more. Multiple forms of presentation: Flash allows you to present your information using interactivity, animation, sound, graphics, etc. Scalable: Flash increases size without distortion, facilitating visibility for users with low vision. Keyboard accessible: allows a higher keyboard interaction than HTML Dynamic: Flash content tends to be more engaging than static pages. Challenges Flash requires intermediary technology to become accessible: MSAA (Microsoft Active Accessibility) Third party dependencies may become problematic if the proprietary group suspends support / development. Making Flash
Flash is a technology designed to deliver Web-efficient content. In this introductory workshop participants will become familiar with the Flash interface and drawing tools as well as create a simple Flash animation. Flash smooths artwork and resizes graphics and animations to fit the viewer's screen, providing full-screen viewing experiences for all browsers. Flash sites are viewable on all platforms and even Web-enabled appliances, including Web TV. Part of the secret to Flash graphics is that they are based on vector information instead of pixel-based bitmap graphics. Flash files consist primarily of vector graphics, but they can also contain imported video, bitmap graphics, and sounds. Flash movies can incorporate interactivity to permit input from viewers, and you can create nonlinear movies that can interact with other Web applications. Flash documents, which have the .fla filename extension, contain all the information required to develop, design, and
Flash animation - as found in NLN materials - can be placed into PowerPoint presentations to add interactivity and sophisticated animations to you learning material. Step1 Copy/Move the flash animation into a new folder, to be saved with your presentation Scroll to Shockwave Flash Objects and double click on this option Return to the presentation, the movie will have changed to a cross hair `+' click and drag where you like the flash animation to appear. Once drawn a box with an X in it will appear, flash animation which is where the flash animation will play. On the right is an input area-this is where you enter the location of the flash file. If the both the flash and powerpoint filse have been saved to the same location - enter the flash file name followed by .swf ie myflashobject.swf The flash movie should appear with in the slideshow of your presentation. Important Please note that the flash file is not `embedded' into the PowerPoint presentation so to display the

Flash white paper

The latest culprit contributing to the problem -- Macromedia Flash. Now before you get angry and start accusing me of horribly misrepresenting Flash, let me clarify. Flash in and of itself is not the problem. All too often, Flash has been incorporated within a Web site solely for the sake of being able to say, "Look, we've got Flash!" Part of being able to create usable Flash content comes from simply knowing when to use Flash, and when not to. Make sure the Flash content adds value -- don't use Flash just for the sake of using Flash. Provide a "skip" option to allow users to skip over a Flash introduction animation (commonly known as a splash page). Users are more likely to wait for a Flash site or animation to download when they are provided with a status indicator that shows how long the loading sequence will take to complete. [To learn more about using Flash to create "usable" Web sites, check out Flash

Animating ZoomView Content with Viewpoint Narrator

Narrator enables you to: Create and publish ZoomView and Flash animations for ZoomView content. Combine ZoomView and Flash animations for ZoomView content. For example, an image of a car lot can be animated to zoom to a specific car while a Flash movie concurrently displays the car's brand name. Flash animation - plays a Flash movie over an image. From each feature's Create Animation menu, deselect this default camera position to start an animation from the camera's current position. The new animation file displays in the Animations table. The new animation file displays in the Animations table. Repeat these steps until you have completed all of your Flash animations. Select to play the Flash movie simultaneously with or after the ZoomView animation.

Animate text in a flash

The fastest and easiest way to create a sophisticated text animation is to start with one that someone else has already designed for you. With nearly 300 prebuilt text animations in Adobe® After Effects® 6.5, the hardest step is choosing which animation to use! After applying animation presets to your text in After Effects, you can work with the resulting text animator groups, animator properties, and selectors to modify the animation and make it your own. Choose Animation > Reveal Modified Properties to expand, in the Timeline window, every property that was just modified by the preset. The Animation Presets category in the Effects & Presets palette contains nearly three hundred prebuilt text animations. Simply adding the Scale and Opacity properties to the animator animates each character's scale and opacity upward from 0 to 100%. To save the entire animation as a preset, select the first animator in the Timeline window (Zooming In in our example) and Shift-click the second

Flash MX 2004 - Rich Media Designprovides students with no prior Flash experience the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to create rich media containing animation, sound, and video. Target Student: This course is for people new to Flash (or who have used it only to build applications) that want to use it to build rich media applications that effectively use animation, sound, and video. Prerequisites: Before taking this course, you should have a basic understanding of your computer's operating system. Benefits: After completing this course, you will know how to create custom Flash animations for use on the Web. You will create frame-by-frame, shape-tweened and motion-tweened animation using both custom and imported graphics as well as text. You will also know how to incorporate symbols and instances into your Flash projects and add interactivity and sound elements to your animations. Finally, you will learn how to test and publish your Flash movies.
A keyframe is a frame in which you define a change in an animation or include frame actions to modify a docu-ment. Flash can tween, or fill in, the frames between keyframes to produce fluid animations. Because keyframes let you produce animation without drawing each frame, they make creating animation easier. You can change the length of a tweened animation by dragging a keyframe in the Timeline. The order in which frames and keyframes appear in the Timeline determines the order in which they are dis-played in a Flash application. You can arrange keyframes in the Timeline to edit the sequence of events in an animation. Normally, Flash displays one frame of the animation sequence at a time on the Stage. To help you position and edit a frame-by-frame animation, you can view two or more frames on the Stage at once. In tweened animation, Flash stores only the values for the changes between frames.
This class is not designed to teach you everything there is to know about Macromedia Flash. Flash offers many tutorials and lessons that can teach you many of the same skills that we will show you today, but the time frame needed to take these lessons and tutorials is significant and probably more than you have to spare. By clicking the constrain box you can get Flash to automatically change the width to match the length or vice versa. Most of the tools are fairly self-explanatory but knowing what tools can and cannot do and when they can and cannot be used will save you a lot of time and trouble when working in Flash. If you have no bitmaps in your library, Flash will request that you import an image to the library. You've created objects and shapes in Flash and now you've imported pictures and other files to use in your movie, but what now? You can click the Flash tab in the publish settings and decide whether to publish the flash file to play on the newer flash player
This form of advertising is designed to be produced in Flash based on capacity. The clickTag variable is to be used to count the number of clicks in the Flash film (e.g. Flash-Specs EMS) to produce a report on clicks. Only visible elements may be clickable. The maximum length of the animation is 10 seconds. A `close' button must be integrated into the Flash layer. After the Flash animation has come to an end, the layer produced must be closed by Flash to prevent printing problems. If a banner has been booked in addition to the Flash layer, both can be delivered in an HTML file, meaning the banner need not be positioned. 10. Flash layers are only delivered to users with Internet Explorer (Version 5.5+) and a Windows operating system. 11. It is possible to serve the Flash layer trougth 3rd party Redirect, if you accept these therms for creating and serving the ad.
