What is Composting? Composting is the biological process in which microorganisms convert organic material such as manure, leaves, grass, and food wastes into a soil-like material called compost. Composting is the same process that decays leaves and other organic remains in nature except that composting controls the conditions so that materials decompose faster. Optimal Conditions for Composting Composting is quickest when conditions that encourage the growth of microorganisms are estab-lished and maintained. The most important condi-tions include: Composting consumes large amounts of oxygen. If oxygen is limited, the composting process slows down.
Attractive Lawn While most homeowners love the sight of a nice green lawn, many assume that such a lawn requires hours of labor in the yard or hundreds of dollars in lawn maintenance services. Keep in mind though, that you are not trying to maintain a golf course, and that by following some basic guidelines you can easily maintain a healthy, vigorous, attractive lawn. Maintaining your lawn can be a fairly easy job. You need only perform three simple tasks. In order of importance, they are: water, mow, and feed. If you simply water and mow regularly you can have a viable lawn, and if you feed regularly, it will remain green. However, maintenance of the lawn becomes more involved when the quality of the lawn becomes important. Watering

o you want to make your home more appealing to sell, or just want to spruce it up? much time, effort, and money to invest in making improvements requires careful consideration before you start hiring contractors or doing the work yourself. An improvement is anything that enhances the value of your home, prolongs its life, or adapts it to new uses. As a REALTOR®, I'm familiar with the homes in your area and their market value. I'm a great resource for determining what improvements could be the most advantageous, especially if you're planning to sell your home. If you make too many costly improvements, your home could become overpriced for the neighborhood--you won't get a return on your investment and instead may lose money. If you choose colors and designs based strictly on your own prefer-ences rather than those that are neutral for mass appeal, your improve-ment may become a deterrent for buyers. You could do too much--or too little. As an experienced REALTOR® in

The aim in designing Hank was to create an experience of cognitive modelling that focused on gaining a new perspective on psychological models rather than programming for its own sake. The findings largely supported the Hank design decisions, and illuminated many of the challenges inherent in designing a programming language for an educational purpose. Hank is a cognitive modelling language for psychology students. Cognitive modelling involves building computational models of psychological theories in order to learn more about them, and is a major research area allied to psychology and artificial intelligence. The main problem is that few psychology students have previous programming experience, making conventional languages such as Prolog, which we currently use at the Open University, difficult to teach and learn. Our proposed solution is Hank, a visual cognitive modelling language, designed specifically for the psychology student. The design of Hank drew heavily
Flying flowers or Jewels of the sky, are just two of the terms that have been used to describe the beauty and fascination that people have for butterflies. By following a few simple steps, you can attract these flying beauties to your garden. Entomology Butterflies are looking for two things when they enter a garden: nectar, the food that adult butterflies need, and; host plants, the place where the female will lay her eggs and the food that caterpillars need. Both are necessary to create a successful butterfly garden. Nectar plants. These are plants with flowers that produce the sweet fluid that many insects, including butterflies, use as food. Flower Colors. Many gardeners do not like to see plants in their gardens that have been chewed on by insects.

In San Mateo County, storm drains flow directly to local creeks, San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific Ocean with no treatment. Stormwater pollution is a serious problem for wildlife dependent on our waterways and for the people who live near polluted streams or wetlands. Some common sources of this pollution include spilled oil, fuel, and fluids from vehicles and heavy equipment; landscaping runoff containing pesticides or weed killers; and materials such as used motor oil, antifreeze, and paint products that people pour or spill into a street or storm drain. All of the cities in San Mateo County have joined together with San Mateo County and the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) to educate local residents and businesses and fight storm drain pollution. We hope you will join us, by using the practices described in this pamphlet. Who should use this brochure?   Meeting was called to order at 11:40 am by Advisor. Review of minutes - There were no minutes to approve as our last meeting was set up for the Ice Breaker, Nov. 10, 2004. Meeting Location: We moved to Applewood Café to provide food for club members in attendance due to the fact that President was not able to attend. Winter Fund Raiser: Amaryllis Bulb kits were ordered. We only sold 38 kits. With cost of kits, plus shipping charges this fundraising effort only earned us about $ 40. The MCC Gardening club also raised a total of $ 53.38 to donate to the American Red Cross for the Florida Hurricane victim's relief fund, during the 3 hr. Ice Breaker event (R. Gale-Gonzalez and President Garrett Fredell covered the registration and donation table through out the entire event.) Gardening Show:
