Indoor GPS Technology
It is well known that GPS, when used outdoors, meets all the location requirements for E911 as well as commercial location based services.
We begin with a theoretical overview of the technology, and then show how the theory has been reduced to practice in a single baseband chip that performs massively parallel correlations to detect the GPS signal at power levels 30dB (one thousand times) below those found outside.
Even if a conventional GPS receiver manages to track the satellite at the low signal strength (usually by increasing the loop time constants), fading will cause frequent loss of lock and return to the acquisition stage, where integration times are again limited by correlator resources.

Signals from one satellite can be used to locate the receiver on the surface of an imaginary sphere surrounding the GPS satellite.
Signals from two satellites can be used to locate the receiver on a circle that is the intersection of two spheres.

The NAV key accesses the Position and Navigation screens.
When you have an active route the navigation screen still displays your heading and speed but also includes the bearing and distance to your destination.
If the landmark is used in a route or is the destination landmark in a GOTO route, the GPS 300 alerts you that the landmark cannot be deleted.

An inexpensive Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) for General Aviation applications is developed by fusing low cost ($20 - $1000) automotive grade inertial sensors with GPS.
The inertial sensor suit consists of three orthogonally mounted solid state rate gyros.
The inertial sensors provide attitude information at a sufficiently high bandwidth to drive an inexpensive glass- cockpit type display for pilot-in-the-loop control.
