The Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) Grant program and Rural Fire Assistance (RFA) Grant programs have been funded by Congress to increase the wildland fire capability of local government fire departments.
The grant programs differ in areas such as cost share rates and areas of emphasis, so please familiarize yourselves with the grant criteria for both before filling out the application.
This VFA funding is provided through Emergency Funds made available through the USDA Forest Service to protect communities from catastrophic wildland fire.

I am a registered patent attorney who has been involved with patents since starting my career as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1988.
