IPv6 address space to CA*net 4 GigaPoP Operators/RANs for the purpose of subsequent assignment to the CA*net 4 connected end-user institutions.

IP version 6 (IPv6) is the newest version of the Internet Protocol, designed as the successor to IP version 4.

In fact, IP is a network layer protocol and its task is to deliver packets of data from a source host to a destination host.

video streams router can know which end-to-end flow a packet belongs to, and then find out the packet which belongs to real-time traffic.

IPv6 support will be a requirement when the next generation of embedded devices enters the Internet.

IPv6 only twice the size of IPv4 header Only version number has the same position and meaning as in IPv4

the biggest problem with the Internet Protocol as it exists today is that we are rapidly reaching a point where available network address space is running out.

Router A and Router B are Dual-Stack routers.

many mobile telecommunications network operators are deploying wide area data services

IPv6 header must be analyzed for mutable fields and for sufficient entropy.

· Only IPv6 offers enough addresses; the Internet is still young

The purpose of the paper is to familiarize you with the Mobile IPv6 standard, its use, and associated security concerns. More addresses The biggest problem with the Internet Protocol as it exists today is that we are rapidly reaching a point where available network address space is running out. However, because there are many unresolved issues regarding MIPv6, it is still in a draft or proposed standard form. http://www.nal.ics.es.osaka-u.ac.jp/news/s-doi03coommag-AnycastRouting.pdf

Although anycast communication supports service--oriented addresses, many of its current definitions in IPv6 are unclear. The basic idea behind anycast communication is to separate the logical service identifier from the physical host equipment, i.e., the anycast address is assigned on a type-of-service basis, which enables the network service to act as a logical host. whether the receiving packet's destination address is anycast or unicast, designing an anycast routing protocol is problematic. There have been several proposals for an anycast routing protocol [2], but to the best of our knowledge, none of these have conformed to IPv6 anycast specifications and anycast addresses are allocated in their own address space, which is different from the unicast address space.

Declarative speci cation, Model checking, Nitpick, Z, Mobile internetworking protocols Abstract. A mobile internetworking protocol (IP) is responsible for routing messages sent from one host to another where hosts may move around to di erent points in the network. to represent that host, we assert router not in dom caches We take a similarly global view of messages. The above speci cation asserts that some message, not currently in circulation, is created and addressed to the previous location of the mobile host, that it originates with the host mobile host has just arrived, and that its contents convey the information that the mobile host is at h.

In IPv4, the presence of any options requires the router to examine all options. Because each interface belongs to a single node, any of the interface 's unicast addresses can be used as an identi node. Nodes use prefixes to distinguish destinations that reside on a link from those only reachable through a router.

As part of the Linux 2004 Conference in Adelaide in January, the Working Group presented a mini-conference with speakers, a panel session and a launch of IPv6 Forum in Australia. 4. Other activities to assist AARNet members Information on central networking, configurations, DNS, emails and pitfalls has not been a major requirement during this period but they will become more important as members connect to AARNet3. 8. Web site Additions to the web pages have been mostly for use by Steering Committee members only. Monthly meetings have continued via video conference and teleconference. The Steering Committee will prepare two sessions for QUESTnet 2004, one an up-date on IPv6 in Australia, presented by Michael Biber, and the other a BoF session presented by Michael Biber and Darren Skidmore.

Across all of these graphs the overall story remains pretty constant we are still in a period of very rapid growth and there are no visible signs of a slowing down of the expansion of the Internet. There's no doubt that 128 bits is a very large number, and if there was an address space shortfall in IP version 4, 128 bits of address is certainly a very large compensatory measure. There is a body of opinion to support this view as, in the meantime, we've seen the widespread introduction of Network Address Translation gateways (NATs) and Application Level Gateways (ALGs) into the Internet.

fyp-report

This project is based on integrating two di erent versions of the IP (Internet Protocol). This project has been implemented in Linux (2.4.x) as a pair of kernel modules to lter network packets by means of a transparent Bump In Stack (BIS) and a kernel module and userland process that together handle the IP address inconsistencies which will occur in this host. Primarily v6 addresses are broken into two main chunks, that de ning the location of the v6 router for the host, and that de ning the hosts unique interface ID. Finally the balance will turn against v4 and the older protocol will then exist in separate islands, communicating with a larger, newer, v6 speaking Internet.

The paper is focused on Mobile IPv6 recommendations, including draft-ietf-mobileip-ipv6-19 and mainly regarding to Linux Red Hat 8.0. Although Microsoft's Windows 2000/XP/2003 currently uses the obsolete recommendation draft-ietf-mobileip-ipv6-13, we did select also these operating systems for our trial. The testing scenario did not include from the beginning any wireless equipment. The minimal mobility demonstrator was based on three workstations in a wired network. Note that as soon as the mobile node's connection is changing, the Mobile IPv6 specific procedures are starting: care-of-address auto-configuration, home registration, and CN notification. We were focused on preliminary evaluation of the following parameters: RTT (Round Trip Time), inter-arrival jitter and cumulative number of packets lost.

There are not enough IP addresses in IPv4 networks, so IPv6 networks have been making progress on the Internet. But OSPFv2 and BGP-4 are not usable in IPv6 networks, which require OSFPv3 and BGP4+ in connection with the IPv6 protocol. MD1230A-18 (OSPFv3 protocol) and MD1230A-19 (BGP4+ protocol) are software options that create virtual networks on the MD1230A platform. As a result, routers can operate with such a virtual network on the MD1230A, allowing MD1230A to measure the performance of a router on an IPv6 network. MD1230A supports 150,000 routes on a single port with the BGP4+ protocol option, allowing a router to get large scale network information. MD1230A supports standard LSAs (Link State Advertisements) as defined in RFC2740.

ipv6_ipv4_tunnelling

This document introduces tunnelling IPv6 packets over an IPv4 network, and a method of obtaining interoperability between Allied Telesyn AR740 and Cisco 4500 routers. It provides a way to utilise an existing IPv4 network infrastructure to carry IPv6 traffic while the IPv6 network infrastructure is being implemented. An IPv6 static tunnel is a "virtual link" which is manually configured between the edge routers of two IPv6 domains that are interconnected by an IPv4 network infrastructure. For detailed information on the command syntax and additional configuration information, please refer to the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) chapter of your AR Series Router's software reference.

This paper will introduce IPv6 from theory and implementation. Link-local addresses are used for ND, Automatic Address Configuration, and when no routers are present on the local link enabling host to communicate with each other. A key exchange is required for IPv6 IPsec and PKI to work. This is very fast, but has the constraint of distributing or communicating the key to the other node in the communication. S. Kent and R.
