The Aurora Jazz provides comprehensive test capabilities for the installation, operation and maintenance of ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks. ATM allows the co-existence of multiple data types on a single network, using any type of physical interface. Whether the test requirement is for commissioning, maintaining or troubleshooting, the user of Aurora Jazz will be impressed with its ability to quickly and efficiently prove the correct operation of ATM circuits. Networks can be tested by emulating the connection to the network or the customer, or by monitoring a circuit in-line or passively in single or bi-directional modes. For the selected cellstream OAM analysis can be used to test the ATM layer alarms, plus the operation of Continuity Check and Loopback cell types. lafayette_page2 It has been the site of performances for inaugurations, yearly pilgrimages by school bands, and endless jazz concerts for over 150 years. 7. GALLIER HALL 545 St. Charles St. Originally the headquarters for the 2nd Municipality, this hall was constructed in 1845 and designed by James Gallier (Sr.), renowned New Orleans architect. In the 19th and half of the 20th century, this was New Orleans' largest theater district. This was Werlein's first long-term location after the civil war (1867-1877) and closely adjacent to their later Werlein Hall (1881-87) on the site of the current Le Pavillion Hotel. Cornetist/bandleader Johnny Dedroit led his band here (1920's), the Kirst Brothers played dinner music, German Bands celebrated Oktoberfest, and others played for dances and parties. Jazz press release http://ntjazz.com/Jazz_Program/Jazz1pressrelease.pdf The NEW TRIER HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ ENSEMBLE I is the most advanced of four curricular jazz ensembles at New Trier High School in Winnetka. Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, the rhythm section of the Count Basie Orchestra, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Lew Tabacken, Ed Shaugnessy, Clark Terry, Louie Bellson, Jamie Aebersold, Bobby Shew, and more than 50 others. Believing that their graduates are their trophies, the New Trier Jazz Ensembles do not participate in competitive jazz events. However, Jazz Ensemble I has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, two times at the international conventions of the International Association of Jazz Educators, three times at the Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic, the National Band Association convention, and several European tours. chinese jazz age http://www.duke.edu/APSI/pdf/chinesejazzage.pdf Rogers locates the 'primal' origins of jazz ---"nobody's child of the levee and the city slum" --- in the "joyous revolt" of African America against "sordidness and sorrow" (Rogers 216, 217). And it is precisely by virtue of this spirit, he continues, that jazz has become a globalized balm for the suffering and ennui of "modern machine-ridden and convention bound society" the world over (Rogers 217). Black musicians in Shanghai, while sometimes subject to sporadic racial harassment at the hands of their Euro-American compatriots, were also beneficiaries of the city's colonial hierarchy.5 Their remuneration far exceeded that of the "Filipino bands, Russian bands, East Indian bands, and of course the oriental bands" who played jazz and other hybrid musics in lesser venues. Jazz http://www.lucksmusic.net/cat-jazz/Jazz.pdf As composing began to take up more of his time, he stopped touring and turned to writing full-time, studying composition with Tibor Serly. bass/keybrd/harp Premiered by The New American Orchestra on March 17, 1984; Bud Shank, soloist. The first movement is written as a flowing jazz waltz that features animated solo lines accompanied by a variety of string and woodwind textures. The first movement is written in a swing-ballad style. Composer profile: Born in Lakeville, Indiana, he attended the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, then moved to California. The composition builds into a flowing 6/8 dance featuring strings and woodwinds, interspersed with polyrhythmic brass section writing. "Campo Traviesa" makes excellent use of orchestral color. jazz camp 03 This summer you have the opportunity to concentrate your efforts on developing this vital skill in various ensemble settings, as well as through master classes devoted to individual instrumental performance. This camp will feature intensive small group and big band experiences, primarily designed for students who are already participating in their school's jazz program. Various forms of classroom study will introduce the student to the craft of improvisation as an element of performing jazz. We are excited to announce that BGSU's resident faculty jazz ensemble, the Faculty Jazz Group, will be in residency throughout the week to coach ensembles and conduct sessions. Bassist Jeff Halsey is currently director of Jazz Studies at Bowling Green State University and teaches jazz history and improvisation, as well as applied jazz bass studies. vocaljazz Join us for the inaugural PMEA All-State Jazz Vocal Ensemble!
