Artist letter
My first jewelry-creating experience happened in 1982, while I was working at a jewelry supply company in Albuquerque, NM.
Then I got a little piece of brass, cut it into two triangles, hammered them with a ballpein hammer, poked a hole in the top of each, and hung them from earwires.
I made jewelry for myself, my friends, my family.
Simple at first, then more complex as I learned new techniques and became bolder in my creative thinking.
In April of 1984, Contemporary Concepts was officially born when I applied for my state tax license so I could start selling some of my creations.
In the summer of 1986, I moved to Florida to pursue jewelry making and the craft show circuit.
Lots of art galleries, gift shops, and antique stores.

JCAlloy http://www.belmontmetals.com/pdf/JCAlloy.pdf
Belmont casts your holiday needs for jewelry and decorative products.
That bracelet or brooch they're holding in their hands was quite possibly fashioned by a Belmont casting alloy.
Copper-base alloys are frequently used instead of Gold to produce jewelry that is similar in color; Copper is a preferred substitute for Gold because it is highly resistant to corrosion and is an excellent base for plating.
Originally developed for casting sculpture, Everdur's ease of casting, finishing, and plating has made it a favorite of casters around the world.
That 14K Gold pendant you've just bought probably contains some very pure metals from Belmont---used by casters either as a direct metal addition or in alloy form.

In order to survive in today's global economy, companies must continually increase their competitiveness.
This is especially true in the European jewelry industry, where the cheap jewelry of developing countries is threatening to enter.
Marketing, design, engineering and production departments must work together to produce better products in less time.
In that spirit, the Finish software company DeskArtes has developed a family of products that address the whole product development process from conceptual design to manufacturing through rapid prototyping.
One of the companies which has both adopted the software tools of DeskArtes is Kalevala Koru.
This has lead to the development of a software package specifically tailored to these needs, namely DeskArtes Industrial Design System.
radioactiveproducts
Section at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has been called on to check a variety of products suspected of being radioactive.
Harlequin and Riviera dishes, also manufactured by Homer Laughlin, have also shown evidence of low-level radioactivity.
Most of these products were manufactured before World War II, when uranium was readily available to manufacturers.
Since that time, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has regulated the use of radioactive materials in consumer products.
In the early 1980s, New York state reported finding radioactive gold jewelry, primarily class rings and wedding rings.
Importation of these jewelry products has been banned since 1984, unless radiation is kept below levels set by the NRC.

Mike Dwyer, a meat buyer for Wesselman's Supermarkets in Indiana, says turkey sales will jump this week as more U.S. families eat Thanksgiving holiday meals together after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Thanksgiving traditions such as turkey dinners and family gatherings have heightened appeal since the attacks, Dwyer said.
Supplies will be abundant for this year's holiday on Thursday, and prices are down as much as 10 percent in some areas.
Other measures put in place by the new law include secure cockpit doors, better communications between airplanes and airports and self-defense training for airplane personnel.
Ultimately, Gattuso said, airplanes are still the safest way to travel in spite of the fact four of them were hijacked Sept. 11.
