This report presents a case study of a new program developed by America Works, Incorporated, to assist released prisoners reenter the world of work.
The report describes the substantial problem presented by America's growing prison population, and the related challenge to society by released prisoners.
During its first year of operation (beginning July 1, 2001), 891 ex-offenders were referred to the America Works Criminal Justice Program.
Before coming to America Works, he found that in job interviews with other employment agencies they typically would not call him for jobs once they had conducted a background check.

The idea for the Resource Guide arose from the Juvenile Justice Committee as a means to provide policymakers with a system-wide directory of pertinent criminal justice agencies/organizations throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Kentucky Multidisciplinary Commission on Child ual Abuse shall be comprised of the following members: Commissioner of the Dept. for Community Based Services, Commissioner of the Dept. for Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services; one social worker who is employed by the Dept. for Community Based Services to provide child protective services and one therapist who provides services to ually abused children who shall be appointed by the Secretary of the Cabinet for Families and Children; Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police; one law enforcement officer who is a detective with specialized training in conducting child ual abuse investigations, who shall be appointed by the Secretary of the Justice Cabinet; one employee of the Administrative Office of the Courts appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; two employees of the Attorney General's Office who shall be appointed by the Attorney General; one commonwealth attorney who shall be appointed by the Attorney General; Commissioner of the Dept. of Education; one school counselor, school psychologist or school social worker who shall be appointed by the commissioner of the Dept. of Education; executive director of the Governor's Office of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Services; one representative of a children's advocacy center who shall be appointed by the Governor; one physician appointed by the Governor; and one former victim of a ual offense or one parent of a child ual abuse victim who shall be appointed by the Attorney General.
