The intention for these Best Practices is to inform home and property owners about landscape and irrigation needs unique to Colorado, and to assist in creating responsible landscape and irrigation design decisions. Regular maintenance of planting and irrigation system preserves the intended beauty of the landscape, and saves water and maintenance costs through efficient operations. E. All landscapes have the potential to impact native plant communities through transport of seeds and plant propagules by wind and storm drainage. Landscapes adjacent to native sites are particularly critical due to the potential of direct spread, but all projects (public or private) should not harbor or install exotic horticultural plant species that are known

As Spring approaches, many people's thoughts turn to landscaping: what to do, how to do it, who to call for an estimate, what'll it look like, what'll it cost. There's so much to consider, that it's worth your valuable time to read this ad. Whatever you do, whomever you call, don't call in a pick-up truck landscaper; that is, a bunch of buffoons calling themselves "landscape experts", riding around with 3 shovels and a broom. These s are total incompetents. And they'll screw you six-ways-to-Sunday. They'll also make a real mess out of everything they touch in a landscape. Likewise, don't call in tree service or lawn service companies; they're basically competent in their areas of specialty, but know nothing about landscaping and will make a mess of everything they touch. Revised by the Horticulture and Restoration Committee, May, 2002 The plants listed below are invasive exotic species which threaten or potentially threaten natural areas, agricultural lands, and gardens. This is a working list of species which have escaped from landscaping, reclamation projects, and agricultural activity. All problem plants may not be included; contact the Colorado Dept. of Agriculture for more information (see references below). Some drought resistent, well adapted exotic plants suggested for landscaping survive successfully outside cultivation. If you are unsure about introducing a new plant into your garden or reclamation/restoration plans, maintain a conservative approach. Try to research a new plant thoroughly before using it, or omit it from your plans. While there are thousands of introduced plants which pose no threats, there are some
