This is what I experienced in the winter of 1997, when I saw my first opera at the Stuttgart State Opera.
A world-class performance of Moussorgsky's Boris Godounov not only surprised and entertained me, it was the catalyst that drove me to investigate internship possibilities with the opera.
The State Theater in Stuttgart is the largest theater of its kind in Europe and consists of a ballet, opera and theater ensemble.
With over 600,000 visitors each year to approximately 1,000 performances, it is also the most attended theater in Germany.
My projects to achieve goal this included: translating the press releases of the opera's five season premiers and the Youth Opera productions into English and sending them to numerous European critics, building a database of American newspapers and arts publications, designing a print ad in English for the international British publication Opera Now, and creating an English description of the Young Opera program in Stuttgart for a European conference of opera Intendants/Artistic Directors in Milan, Italy.
