You have just finished reading two sets of directions to make an origami dog.

Fold it in half diagonally, then fold it in half again.

2. Fold the top left corner onto this crease line so that the new fold passes through the bottom-left corner.

With Origami Desk, users learn to fold paper into beautiful shapes.

5. With arrow side down, crease along new diagonals in both directions and tear off these instructions.

How do you make a perfect square?

In this lesson, children will create an art project using the Japanese art of origami.

Work continues on the creation of the Mathematics Curriculum Council endorsed progress maps by the Mathematics Revision Group.

Keeping these four fingers attached to your hand, place one finger under each flap.

Follow the instructions provided to fold your own paper crane.

In any given week, participants will explore nature at the grounds of the Boston Nature Center.

Students will understand how the Japanese embody the spirit of the term peace.

The summer school was specifically focussed on science, maths and information technology although a part of each day was given over to recreational activities.

she had studied English at the Yazigi Language Study Center on the Academy campus and then decided to spend the rest of her high school years in a US school---ours.

More than 500 talented students submitted entries, which were judged at the International Design Conference in Aspen, Colorado.

Students were keen to learn about other Japanese festivals and used their Japanese knowledge to request,.

You're going to calculate your plane's glide ratio---the horizontal distance the plane flew divided by the launch height.

We will learn different methods of cartooning animals.

lens, panels, glass, telescope, Livermore, Hyde, Eyeglass, optics, lenses, segments, mirrors, measuring, assemblage, folding, grooves.
Hubble Space Telescope, with its 2.5-meter mirror lens, have delighted astronomers and the public for years.
It replaces the curved surface of a conventional lens with many concentric grooves that are etched into a thin sheet of glass, silica, or plastic to bend and focus light.
Early in 2002, the team, guided by computer simulations, assembled a two-thirds scale model of a 5-meter lens using unpolished and unetched plastic panels and successfully demonstrated the origami-like folding pattern.
In high Earth orbit, the Livermore-conceived Eyeglass diffractive telescope would consist of two spacecraft: a 25-meter-aperture Magnifying Glass and a 1-meter-aperture Eyepiece.
Under this arrangement, the Magnifying Glass vehicle holds the large-aperture diffractive lens and, with the aid of a gyrowheel, swivels the lens to point toward desired targets.

peace, crane, fold, students, diamond, Sadako, peacemakers, paper cranes, instructions, origami crane, Japanese, Sadako Sasaki, community, school, classroom.
Goal: Students will create their own definition of peace and express the importance of being a peacekeeper.
You will probably want to practice crane-making ahead of time so that you can help interpret the instructions for your class.
You may want to choose a couple of ideas to implement in your classroom, the school, or the community.
Sadako believed the Japanese legend that if she made 1000 origami cranes and brought them to the temple as an offering, the gods would answer her prayer to be well again.
Follow the instructions provided to fold your own paper crane.
4. Holding the diamond with the opening at the bottom, fold the side corners in to the center as shown.

Studying families from different places helps us to learn and appreciate both the similarities and differences between ourselves and others.
The family --- that special group of adults and children who care for, love, protect, and help each other --- is both explored and celebrated in Families Around the World.
In My Family from Japan, students will meet 11-year-old Keisei and his family who live in Tokyo.
Using a web, brainstorm with your students to determine who they consider to be members of their family.

crystals, octahedron, prisms, minerals, cube, polyhedron, Platonic Solids, regular, polygons, Internet, tetrahedron, dodecahedron, rectangular prism, angles, students.
This unit is designed to be an introductory unit for geometry.
Through a variety of hands-on activities and the interactive viewing of a video, the students are introduced to polyhedra.
Students will demonstrate the ability to reason logically as they classify and identify geometric solids in the real world.
The crystal systems are defined by the dimensions (length, width, and height) of imaginary axes inside the crystal and the angles at which these axes meet.
To what crystal system does this prism belong?
Sometimes minerals are found divided into seven crystal systems, rather than six.
Students need to visit a minimum of five (5) sites.
Write a paper that relates prisms and pyramids to minerals, crystals, or molecules.

Later she found directions in a book that called it a "Traditional Polish Star."
Most recently she saw the directions online at familyfun.go.com/crafts/cutpaste/craft/polishstar Also made of wrapping tissue paper, Kathy originally found the directions for this Sonobe ball ornament in the book Origami: 30 Fold-by-Fold Projects by Paulo Mulatinho.
The designer of the star is Mitsunobu Sonobe.
She later discovered the folding directions in the book Origami for Christmas by Chiyo Araki as part of a decorative box project.

During the process of folding, students review attributes of geometric shapes and mathematics vocabulary.
2.2 Know that the sum of the angles of any triangle is 180 0 and the sum of the angles of any quadrilateral is 3600 and use this information to solve problems.
Short YOUR TIME segments are provided to complete some folds and to list the geometric shapes and terms they recognize as they fold.
Origami involves precise folding (fine motor skills).
3. What is the name of a triangle with three congruent sides?
