My friend, Nikki, the French teacher, introduced Marii Oishi as a new tenth grade student from Japan during registration, a few days before classes began at Saint Stephen's Episcopal School, a college preparatory school in Bradenton, a small community on Florida's Gulf Coast.
I first thought that Marii was an Academy student, but, instead, she had studied English at the Yazigi Language Study Center on the Academy campus and then decided to spend the rest of her high school years in a US school---ours.
Under Marii's leadership, their first project was to send over one thousand origami cranes to the shrine of Sadako Sasaki in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

When there are only a fixed amount of tools, or capital goods, to work with the amount of output that can be made is somewhat limited.
This handson lesson will help students understand what an entrepreneur must grapple with in terms of controlling costs of production as well as developing an understanding of the concept of diminishing returns.
