ZBB Energy Corporation has developed the Zinc/Bromine Battery technology for remote area power and renewable energy applications.
The Zinc/Bromine Battery can be repeatedly fully discharged without any damage to the battery and has a life of at least one thousand five hundred charge/discharge cycles.
The Zinc/Bromine Battery uses a flowing electrolyte system where most of the electrolyte is stored externally to the cell stacks and where the chemical reactions take place.
The battery operates at ambient temperature and during charge metallic zinc is plated from the electrolyte solution onto the negative electrode surfaces in the cell stacks.
Discharge can be sustained at continuous rates up to 300 Amps.
