The entertainment
industry is focused on generating revenues from people through provision of time
killing, fun activities.
Both industries are well established and have
their own "best practices", jargon, and revenue models.
This
article describes one aspect in which the gap must be bridged -- definition of
a value chain and business model -- and goes on to suggest one way to do it.
The mobile operator is responsible mainly for the billing as well as maintaining
a relationship of trust with subscribers.
Publishers traditionally select
the applications to develop and the type of content to use (branded or not).
Once the application is complete, publishers distribute and market it to the service
providers.
Setting up a server to provide Over the Air capabilities to your mobile device
customers is easy to do.
The current handsets that are available from
Motorola have two types of delivery.
However, the majority of handsets
that this author has used have the HTTP-Range functionality enabled for download
through the browser.
Some of the main ones are listed here: Download of
my Application Hangs at 0% or a small percentage downloaded This can be due to
the download mechanism that is used for the WAP Gateway.
If the Gateway
does not support HTTP-Range, the handset will not receive the expected response
and hang awaiting the next part of its request.
The MIME types may not
be defined correctly on the content server.
This
morning I'd like to present the first in a series of annual discussions on the
commercial satellite industry.
Third, the Commission has been taking actions
that will streamline its procedures and enable healthy competition in the sector.
While other industries are still in the throes of the digital transition, the
satellite industry has already made the digital migration - leading to growth
in voice, digital broadcasting, and data communications.
Some satellite
services are especially visible to consumers.
Satellite radio providers
had about 800,000 subscribers by mid-2003 and expect to nearly double their subscribers
by the end of the year.
Coming soon, satellites with enhanced capabilities
will provide broadband Internet service to subscribers.
Nominet notified the Respondent of the Complaint
on 4 April 2002, and informed the Respondent that it had 15 days within which
to lodge a response.
The Complainant filed a reply to that response on
2 May. Informal mediation followed.
fair use of a generic or descriptive
domain name The Complainant says that it is the inclusion of the word NOKIA in
the domain name that is the relevant fact, not the content of the site.
That is a key question, because fair use by the Respondent of a generic or descriptive
domain name may be evidence that a domain name is not an abusive registration.
The current generation of gaming consoles sport some pretty impressive audio
support.
In contrast, the audio capabilities of cell phones and other
mobile platforms are limited.
The engine also supports the Java Mobile
Media API (MMAPI) within the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) platform (see
below).
The Helix DNA Client is a media playback engine designed to support
the decoding and playback of many different data types, and supports any audio
or video codec through file format and decoder APIs.
Real is banking that
you'll use the Helix DNA Client as the core media engine inside or alongside your
own products to develop applications for mobile phones, set top boxes, home gateways,
personal music players, and personal computers.

SAR which stands for Specific Absorption of Rate means the rate of absorption
of RF energy in the human body.
Distance between the mobile phone and
its cell site, distance between the phone to the body while in use, and the use
of hands-free devices are considered to be some of the causes of SAR rate variation.
The SAR limit stated in the international guidelines is 2.0W/Kg.

From vertical, stand-alone content services,
such as ringtones and wallpapers, operators are moving to broad, integrated content-based
brands, encompassing a broad array of content offerings.
Three presentations
will show different approaches to these questions: the operators' key success
factors, the content providers' strategy, and a handset provider's aim to provide
a "content-friendly" ecosystem.
This session will outline the
current state of mobile content services, describe the expected roadmap of future
services, and show what operators need to do in order to improve services and
promote higher usage.
