For this classification, student performers demonstrate average characteristic tone qualities for their instrument and musical style of performance, however, they lose control often. ·Student performers demonstrate little awareness of tuning tendencies of instruments and sensitivity to uniform intonation within their section. ·For this classification, the ensemble demonstrates average concepts of balance and blend of sounds, and does not produce a desirable and appropriate sonority of the music performed. ·The ensemble exhibits average control of all aspects of rhythm, tempo, and pulse, and there are many lapses. ·Student performers demonstrate an awareness of tuning tendencies of instruments and sensitivity to uniform intonation within their section, but there are several flaws.

The ideal content-based musical search engine for large corpora must be both expressive enough to meet the needs of a diverse user base and efficient enough to perform queries in a reasonable amount of time. One can query the database using five different kinds of search queries: pitch, interval, scale degree, gross contour, and refined contour. All of these properties are self-evident, with the exception of base-40 pitch, which is a numeric pitch representation where the intervals are invariant under transposition while maintaining enharmonic spelling (Hewlett 1992). The concept of secondary indices allows the individual properties of each atom to be indexed independently of any other properties.

Both projects noted difficulties in getting the pitch detection process to work right, with unwanted notes appearing in the output. Most notable of these techniques include the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) or the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). EVM implementation The EVM implementation was based on the code from lab 1 and 3. 10s (Live) version: 675 million cycles 10Xs (Segmented) version: 500 million cycles Before optimizations: 10s version: 1 billion cycles 10Xs version: 900 million cycles From the code, it is apparent that the period-by-period processing of signals required no double loops (except for either traversing through the array or the one case where elements in an array were removed), therefore no unrolling of loops was applicable.

Author Uwe Ligges <ligges@statistik.uni-dortmund.de> with contributions from Andrea Preusser and Claus Weihs. A window of width ' width' running through the time series selects the samples from which the periodograms are to be calculated. Logical; ifTRUE (default), two steps will be applied: (i) the input signal will be normalized to amplitude max(abs(amplitude)) == 1, (ii) the resulting spec values will be normalized to sum up to one for each periodogram. An object of class Wspec is returned containing the following slots. Each element of the list corresponds to one periodogram estimated from samples of the window beginning at start of the Wave object.

In May of 2001, the Exhibition Program at the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health opened The Once and Future Web: Worlds Woven by the Telegraph and Internet. For The Once and Future Web, the challenge of displaying and interpreting communications technology provided the Exhibition Program with an opportunity to use multimedia interactives to deliver exhibition content. Archives are maintained as a record of the exhibition and also as a resource for the creation of any supplemental projects associated with the content of an exhibition. The Once and Future Web was developed under the federal government's ADA regulations and accessibility requirements were considered in its design.

THA is hoping to assist one of its members in research on Treasury law enforcement badges of the past. THA has come across several informative websites about former Treasury organizations that were merged to became the U.S. Coast Guard, a Treasury bureau until it was transferred to the Department of Transportation. While most THA members are aware that the United States Coast Guard had been a Treasury bureau until its transfer to the Department of Transportation in the 1960s, few know of the other Treasury maritime organizations that created the Coast Guard. While other Secretaries had to rely upon written word dispatched by messengers or to attempt to personally visit the President, Secretary Sherman was able to capture the President's attention with ease and clarity.

Digital libraries of music have the potential to capture popular imagination in ways that more scholarly libraries cannot. From the point of view of the non-scholar, non-specialist, non-technophile, digital libraries have yet to come down to earth. Although searching gets the lion's share of research attention, because it presents interesting technical challenges---even more so in music than in textual domains---we believe that browsing is an equally important means of accessing digital libraries so far as the end user is concerned. In this case, the textual search is for the word "beatles," and a melody has been sung that resembles the first few notes of the tune Yesterday.
