A small, Indianapolis based welding manufacturer, Young Welding and Fabrication (YWF), wanted to expand their welding capabilities to capture emerging market opportunities. Working with BMT's Technology Access Services, Young Welding and Fabrication contacted the Edison Welding Institute (EWI) for training and production assistance. A senior research engineer at EWI worked with the company to provide training for titanium welding. Through its association with BMT, Young Welding and Fabrication now has the capability and knowledge to produce acceptable titanium welds to the appropriate weld procedure and welder qualification standards and specifications. Established in the early '80s, Indiana Business Modernization and Technology Corporation (BMT) is a full service resource providing business, manufacturing and technology assistance to small- and medium-sized businesses. Chp19 The purpose of this safety policy and procedure is to establish guidelines and procedures through which North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) employees receive the training and proper equipment needed to safely perform welding operations. Byproducts resulting from the welding process include fumes and gases which can be serious health hazards to employees. It presents provisions for training, discussion on types of welding, safe work practices, and employee protection requirements. Welding is being performed in a space less than 10,000 cubic feet per welder. Refer to SPP # 1910.134, Respiratory Protection, for additional details. Helmets and hand-held shields shall be provided with a window for filter plates and cover plates, and shall be designed for easy removal and replacement of plates. The aim of the study was to examine the suitability of the welding technique Friction Stir Welding (FSW) for welding aluminium foam materials in an unfoamed condition. Metallic foam materials, most from aluminium or aluminium alloys, have found a great interest within the last years and have been introduced to the industrial production at the moment. It always happens at the welding process of precursor that the foaming agent is lost by heating over the melting point already and the welded material can not be foamed in the welded region any longer. Werkstoffkunde und Schweißtechnik were correspondingly carried out to unfoamed precursor both of the Fig. 2: FSW of an unfoamed AlSi7 precursor same and in connection with conventional aluminium alloy sheet. welding welding, Semester, Arc Weldin, courses, metals, techniques, science, cutting, diploma, education, AAS, CREDIT, Electives, construction technology. Welders work with a variety of metals such as steel, aluminum and stainless steel material. They use several welding techniques such as oxy-acetylene, shielded metal arc, gas tungsten arc welding (TIG) and gas metal arc welding (MIG). The diploma program gives students knowledge and skills in cutting, arc welding, MIG and TIG welding with some exposure to oxy-acetylene cutting and welding. The technical courses for the associate of applied science (AAS) degree provide an educational experience through the solution of practical problems relating to construction technology. This is supplemented and supported by general education courses in math, English and communications, physical, social and behavioral sciences and humanities. agen-wld meeting, baseline, task group, review, supplier, Proposals, Staff Engineer, slash sheets, Chairperson, audits, Routing, Quorum, Opening, task group members. The family of 9Cr-IMo steels is a relatively new class of materials used for elevated temperature service in power plants. Compared to stainless steels, the 9Cr-1Mo material possesses lower thermal expansion and higher thermal conductivity, thus reducing thermally-induced stresses. In addition, the alloy is more resistant to stress corrosion cracking and does not sensitize during welding or elevated temperature exposure. The microstructure and mechanical properties of 9Cr-1Mo steels are obtained by careful control of heat treatment schedules. However, welding and post weld heat treatment (PWHT) can considerably alter the base metal microstructure and resultant properties. At the conclusion of the workshop discussions, it became clear that detailed information on fabrication issues such as welding procedures, filler metal selection, and PWHT schedules is not yet available to ensure full restoration of the weld and heat affected zone properties of 9Cr-1Mo alloys. brochure_welding welding, laser, laser beam welding, simulation, card, layout, Explanation, laser technology, courses, LASIM, test welds, process parameters, basics, trainees. The user gets familiar with the handling of a laser beam welding plant and simulates test welds in a virtual environment. Area of application LASIM can be utilized both in university education and on-the-job training and adresses various operator groups such as specialists, engineers, trainees, consultants and students. The modular structure of the program makes it suitable for self learning courses as well as as a component of training courses. · Training Explanation and simulation of the effects of the process parameters on the welding seam. · Glossary Clear explanations of over 130 technical terms dealing with laser technology Programm layout LASIM® - WELDING has a self-explana-tory layout with help functions to provide the user with constant support. Laser welding is a non-contact welding method giving very high precision and uniform quality. We offer high precision laser welding with a large penetration depth (pictured is a cross-section showing a penetration depth of 10 mm). The shape of the laser beam can be adapted for each specific component and the weld depth (penetration) can be determined from a few millimetres up to 20 mm. Unlike electron beam welding the process does not need to be performed in a vacuum, which makes laser welding a cost effective option. Laser welding also offers the possibility to join different materials with each other, for example, steel, titanium, nickel, aluminium and copper in different combinations. Creates Welding Procedure Documentation Creates & Maintains Complete Welder Management Records Maintains History of Inspection and Continuity Logs by Welder Fast. Welding Pro-Write makes quick work of writing accurate ASME welding procedure specifications and maintaining welder qualification records. Welding Pro-Write can generate a report for each welder which lists all procedures for which that welder is qualified, even though he might not have been tested for every procedure on the list. For example, a welder qualified to weld carbon steel may also be qualified to perform the same weld on stainless steel, even though he has not been tested on stainless steel.
