Chapter 6 of the BG deals with the technique and related problems of the Yoga of meditation.
This relation is indicated in the introductory part of chapter 6 where the BG refers to the practice of the Yoga of action in the early stages of meditation, and that of renunciation when the technique is perfected (VI.3).
The BG mentions contentment, self-control and equanimity as some criteria of perfection in meditation (VI.8-9).
The practitioner should select a place free from disturbances, sit on a soft mat with his trunk, head and neck in a straight line, his gaze fixed on the centre of his eyebrows, and concentrate his mind to purify it.
